Trash Talk - some to get talking over, RFCs anyone?

Post subject: some to get talking over, RFCs anyone?
i thought of this recently after looking through the RFCs.
Wouldn't it be good if we had RFCs for Continuum?
Think about it and add to this thread what you think. It would be cool because you can add stuff to it and it can help all kinds of people like Zone delevopers, app coders and so on..

and before you ask what RFC is, its Request For Comments. its become the internet standards in a way

i should have said lets make our own set of standards in a way, but this would be more like a standard set of guidelines. read the RFCs yourself (if u haven't already) then u might understand what i mean

"the RFCs"...oh, those...wait a second...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

how about an a example?

I totally agree there should be RFC documents about Continuum and Subspace protocols how everything established; heck they have IRC, POP3, IMAP, SMTP, and 100000001 other RFC files.... sa_tongue.gif

I thought RFC stood for something else but indeed much so, but try to get priitk to write one for ya lol meeh..

good luck - cyp

There are plenty of open source bots that you can take the protccol from, if you are planning to make a bot yourself it shouldnt be too hard for you to figure it out from those soucres.
Fuzzjdc - Mon Nov 10, 2003 4:17 pm
Post subject:
you get what i mean, except i didn't mean add an RFC for subspace/continuum to the list of the current RFCs but more or less make our own set of RFCs for continuum (if you misssed it)

an example of an RFC we would have in the set, would be Mine's LVZ text file explaining the LVZ format.

Basically a lot of stuff is available from shanky.com/server, protocol stuff from snrrrub.sscentral.com, and bot stuff from www.mervbot.com (and Catid for the source icon_razz.gif). It's not really incorporated, but all we need is a page of links I guess.

yeah, but a more centralized place for it too plus there are somethings we might not know about yet too

bleh...do you really have to use some ridiculous term instead of just "information"?

he means "centralised information." i think he manages a tech dept.
SuSE - Mon Nov 10, 2003 5:11 pm
Post subject:
it probably wouldn't be worth the effort - as those that can really understand it all probably already know where all the info is

would be nice though

I've thought about doing it a few times (was screwing with a forum script for a knowledge base a few weeks ago) but it'd be so boring sa_tongue.gif

yes, it practically means the same thing only its a RFC which means anyone can reply

Funny how you say

manages a tech department
because there 4 computers at home (2 of them are mine) which i hav to manage because everyone at home is pathetic at computers

anyone can reply is fine for forums, but the information doesn't really need a bunch of people interpreting it differently
Fuzzjdc - Mon Nov 10, 2003 5:48 pm
Post subject:
ok about now i have to state what i mean, right?

RFC stands for Request For Comments. OK next thing, we should make our own RFCs for continnum. the RFCs will contain everything we know and it would be a centralized database of infomation for everything we know. so nether the less, its everything combined in to one package but the point people are missing is that people can still add stuff not yet included

If you have read the RFCs you'll know what i mean (in a way)
SuSE - Mon Nov 10, 2003 6:43 pm
Post subject:
well I haven't read THE RFCs and I'm not going to bother google searching it when you should've linked an example a year ago sa_tongue.gif

is there something wrong with just calling it a knowledge base? sa_tongue.gif

Akai, that sounds Microsoft! That's what's wrong with it!
But like I said before, why not a page of links?

with enough propaganda... you can own whatever you want....
yes it would sound like a microsoft rip, no matter what we tell ourselves about the real truth of the matter
Fuzzjdc - Mon Nov 10, 2003 9:52 pm
Post subject:
click here for the RFCs i put them up on my dodgy server. they're only text files so there should be a prob transfering them

i think you people hav lost the subject a bit here.... but if we made an RFC database for continuum would submit something? and would you want an RFC database?

I ant believe none of you know what an RFC is. RFC is like a doc, organized by number. For example theres an RFC simply on TCP structure, TFTP, and many many useless things. (theres even and RFC on RFCs). Simply refer to RFCs as a series of documents.

About microsoft: Ownership, rights, creation, and earned aility for any of those are totally unrelated. Microsoft knows that they dont have to make something in order to sue others to claim it as their own.
SuSE - Mon Nov 10, 2003 11:08 pm

I hereby proclaim the idear of making some "RFC"s for SubSpace...silly

a knowledge base would be fine

yeah, thats what i meant. i meant to say we'll create a series of documents like the RFCs

comment: i just thought it was a cooler name for it and it was the idea in my head at the time

What about just making a wiki of links? People can add new links and remove broken ones. Anyone could add a page describing a subject in more depth (if they can be bothered).

Lol. "Oh, you want Continuum's source? I think PriitK has it somewhere..."

But, yeah, it would be good to create a page of links that a group of people have access to, so if one quits, the others can continue.

Edit: Look at Pixelsoft's Linkpool!
