citadelhost.com
addr.com

These are the 2 web hosts I've had experience with so far and I can tell you, they really suck.

citadelhost was good at first, but it's all a 1 man show. When the guy is asleep, nothing gets done. Also he has no uptime guarantee, no 30 day policy and gives no refunds. In the 5 1/2 weeks I was hosted by citadelhost, I had almost 30 hours downtime.

addr.com likes to spam and cancelling your account with them is a nightmare. when i used them in the past, it took me 2 months to get them to stop billing me after i had already cancelled my account.

so how about all of you? ever had any experience with a really bad web host?

Yes. I'm moving everything to a new webhost. Paying a little more but I'm getting better support from them, more features, etc. It's definitly worth it.

The DNS will take 24-48 hours to update and then things will be back to normal.

web1000

I went there, signed for the free no charge ever hosting plan.
About a month later, when I stopped even using the host after the first week, I recieve an email saying I need to pay a bill for free hosting, of $9 for a one time maintanance fee.
I had thoroughly read their hosting plan and TOS, and there was no mentioning of that crap, it said absolutely free.
So anyway, I wrote them an email back saying politely
GO FUCK YOURSELVES!
And that they can cancel my account for all I care, since their hosting is so shitty I stopped using it the first week.

My account is still active, suprisingly, but I never had heard from them again. icon_smile.gif

geocities, tripod, homestead... obviously

generally, i like to meet the people, face to face, who are going to handle the hosting for any sites i do commercially. That would be my recommendation

Which reminds me... you owe a $20 service charge for the transfering of your account to the new host.
