Trash Talk - Netbeans & Eclipse Helicon - Tue Oct 14, 2003 7:40 pm Post subject: Netbeans & Eclipse
My spiel:
Eclipse - excellent refactoring, error suggestions/corrections/management is a dream, SWT is FAST in comparison (still java, though)
on my 400mHz machine, this one is by far the performance leader compared to NetBeans
NetBeans - love the VFileSytems (heck, i like UNIX), above par everything, great debugging, less cumbersome views, more keyboard shortcuts, i love NBM files, easier web site(yes that counts with me, i need help)
HAVE TO kill those unwanted modules before they eat your memory like marshmallow, excellent GUI editing, web/html/xml/css support makes me swoon
JCreator - for the price (i can't afford it) its what i'd expect. Comparable or less than the above Open Source solutions, though, God, even hacking java I still wish it all ran like C++ on windows... lament lament

TextPad.
If I couldn't use that, Im sure there are other syntax highlighers with JDK shortcuts.

Does WordPad count as non-commercial? It's better than Notepad because it turns black squares into new lines and has a replace function.

heck, i like my emacs and vide, too....
honestly something just makes sense:
use better programs to make more programs.
Faster
Easier
With the minimum of:
"was that the FIRST argument or the Second one, and was it double or Double?"
Go at least try one of the free editors. Unless youre running a serious dinosaur, its definitely worth your time
