I still think there needs to be an attach radius limit made into CTM for infantry zones.... like for a person to get into a jeep driven by another person...... |

Too hard to add into current server, simple to do into new server, so you'll have to wait for that.
The idea with subspace to attach anywhere is since your in the future in space, you can just "warp" there, since they are on your team, you know their location. This "warp" feature is the same idea with using Insert to warp to a random location, or portaling. With infantry, they can get away with the radius limit because your not a huge ship with massive technology to be able to do long distance warping alone, you need some other device to enter to be able to do so. |

It should be possible to measure distance after attaching but is it also possible to check before and prevent? |

The real problem is that when you attach, the client already "disappears" on their own screen, to prepare for attachment. The server will then reply with a "yes, go attach to him, he is over here", but there isn't any "no" packet. So if you prevent attachments with current method, you'd have to force the client to wait-out the attachments, which causes him to lose control of his ship for a while, but still be able to get hit by weapons (fail-safe added a while ago to prevent laggers from constantly attach to become unhittable). |
