Is the Oracle server used for Starlight down? I can't seem to connect to any zones at all, and I even tried totally disabling the firewall and it still didn't work. I can retrieve a list of zones fine, but can't connect to any.
On that note, are there any other chat clients that will run on Linux? I need something that can connect to subgame servers, even if it requires vip.txt- my goal is to set a client up on a VPS.

There's very little demand for both Linux and Subgame. There are plenty of Linux chatnet enabled clients, though. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

I don't believe Starlight has any dependency on Snrrrub's server. It may be configured to use his server for a directory listing, but that's no different than if it were configured to use some other directory server.
Your current alternative would be SubChat.
EDIT: Sorry, I am incorrect. He confirmed to me that his server has to be on. :O

Hmm, could someone confirm/deny that Starlight really isn't working? This is bizarre. I tried both the Windows version on my home computer and the Linux version on my VPS and neither can connect to any zones.
edit: wow, it's working now. This is weird. I am positive it wasn't working at the time I posted this, because I asked someone else to try it, too, and it wasn't working. You know, a Linux build of 1.3 would be cool (wink wink)

I use opencore with junky's chat plugin to connect to EG (subgame) to chat. It's for POSIX systems and I screen it out on a colocated server. It has some small issues but for the most part its functional and gets the job done. I've attached a screenshot. I think it was written in 2006.
