Wasn't someone modelling the ships in 3d? Could someone direct me to those files? _________________ Signatures just seem so quaint.

I know MillenniumMan and T4 - Judgement Day have been modeling a lot and have all the VIE ships and more modeled.
Website at cnl.sscentral.com - but it seems to be down...their earlier site is still up at subspace3d.tripod.com - I don't know if they are exact mirrors of each other or not, but you can see some renders of the models there.
There is also the 3D Model of a Warbird at subspacedownloads.com modeled in Maya which I haven't actually looked at.
Tiro of lifescreations.com (forums.lifescreations.com - fyi) has also apparently made a very nice Warbird model himself. I believe you can see renders of it at narchs.sscentral.com (when sscentral is functional - it's down now) in the splash images (there are 9 now I believe, two or three with the warbird in it).

I found the flash animation Tiro made using his model and three of the images [ 1 . 2 . 3 ] from narchs.sscentral.com on my comp.
edit: broken links, my host for unserious.com bailed

if you own the subspace cd in the help file, under images there are 3d views of all the ships, in a motion .gif format

they're all pretty, but for rolling images you need actual models and even if you don't care about rolling images, you'd need to perhaps tweak one of the animated images to make the lighting appear to not be there (on the frame with ship pointing north) so you could run it through a rotator that evenly distributes the light

oh man, thats some beautiful 3D. anyone know what they used to make those ships? seems hard. Take a look at mine :P
I know it pales in comparison to those models, but hey, you try to make one urserlf :P
Hey, whats a good easy to use 3d modeler? I'm sick of those dumbass complicated techniques you gotta use to make a decent thing in bryce or blender

the free and easy editors are nendo adn wings they are easy to make meshes with that can be colored and then imported into things like deep exploration that will render them and do a rendered flybye that wll rotate your 3d models render them and then you just take the images that come out and create the bm2 with them
