(Sorry for creating this second topic but it's a completely different bug)



Another discovered bug is when you enter "%19:) :) bla bla.. " it would display ":) :) bla bla.. " as an arena message but only at your own client.
After some trial and error I discovered that the "%19:):" part is what makes this behaviour. (can be any number)

Another similar bug is when you do %0:: you get two messages like you PM-ed yourself (can also be any number).

Are these bugs already known ? :)

When you do %19:) :) bla bla.. it actually trys to send the player ") " a message. Since he doesn't exist no one will get it. That's why its green and only you can see it. So it just pms a player.

The sound striping code is done on the client before it figures out the message type. The "arena" message you get on the first example is your client sending a cross-arena/zone message to a player named ) .

The second is trying to do a name match in arena. This is a bug (#1539) that I've bugged Priit about that he thinks is a server problem, but is actually the client. When you want to send a private message to say Mine GO BOOM in the game, you can type :Mine GO BOOM: and then your message. Too lazy for that? :Mine: will name match to Mine GO BOOM as long as he is first in the list of names before any others starting with Mine. In the case of ::, you are the first. So it name matches nothing to your name, and sends a private message to yourself through the server. The serve happily forwards it to yourself, and you get a double message.

The real bug is what if someone in a subarena is named Mine and I'm in your current arena. You try and private message him by :Mine: but they will always get forwarded to me as long as I'm in the same arena as you.

Wow, that was a major bump.

No, because the source code to continuum is not released. Best you can do is to use a different client that doesnt do the same thing.

Or was this posted when .36 was out and .40 has a work around?
