Hello all.
I wanted to host ASSS on my own computer, but the static IP address package AT&T offers isn't that great. Anyone got a good DSL ISP for Southern United states that provides a static IP?
I figured I ask here cause you guys are good with that stuff
PS. I 'ed at the "New Topic" button bouncing around for April fools |

You do not need a static IP. It helps, but Continuum supports using dynamic IP address loadings by using the descriptions.
As for the April joke, yeah, it is a day specific coding. I just leave it in because I'm sure it amuses people. |

Yeah, I know, however, Snrrrub's biller has an IP based whitelist (thats what he told me), and I want to stay on Snrrrub's biller, so I need a static IP. |

It looks like getting a residential static IP is about $15/mo? For $20 you can just get a VPS _________________

D1st0rt wrote: | For $20 you can just get a VPS | Actually, I think I might do that, because my network isn't exactly a dedicated one (I play alot of Wii+PS3 online games, + Continuum). How well does ASSS run on a 256MB RAM system? I'm assuming since continuum was built for dialup users that the bandwidth will not be a problem.
PS. AT&T offers 5 static IPs with a good connection for $70/month, way off $15. I only need one anyway, and they dont have a single Static IP package.
EDIT:

Isn't that a problem, or can you get around that via cross compiling or a 32bit chroot? |

The next version of ASSS will run on 64-bit. I can get you set up with an interim copy of the source if you need it before the next version is released. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

I looked around and found what appears to be a very similar setup, and they offer 32-bit images: http://www.linode.com
It appears you get a little bit of extra memory as well. |
