Okay, so a few months ago I posted a thread on which I stated that I was having troubles with my Belkin Wi-Fi card with "Gutsy" Ubuntu (The newest release). Unfortunately, after reading many tutorials and seeking help, I still couldn't solve the problem. At first I thought it couldn't just find my card, but I realised that wasn't the case. I did some tests that were in the Help files that come with the OS, and realised that it could find the card, just not use it. So, I think it's safe to say that this is a Driver related issue. So, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the correct drivers to work correctly?

Thanks!
-Brandon

Check in System> Administration> Restricted Drivers Manager
Make sure it is enabled. If it asks you to install a package or download something, then do what it says. You may have to use ndiswrapper (a rigged way to get it to work).

This is for my computer, but it might help you.

I used the second method, but give the first one a try and let me know if it works. You will probably need a different driver, but google or search another site for one.

I took a look at those guides, and found a problem. It appears as though you need access to the internet to download the files from the terminal. However, I have no internet access while using Linux, due to the fact that I only have a Wi-Fi connection.

Oh I see. I thought you had a wired connection. You could always download the files and instructions and place them on a flash drive, then skip the wget steps and just do the rest.

I recommend the ndiswrapper because you can find windows drivers easier (if you can't find a linux driver). Make sure you edit the paths to your current kernel version.

Example: 2.6.22-14-generic

Have you tried Ubuntuforums.org? They usually help out.

I don't have anything to add to the conversation, but there are too many kitties in here. I just needed to break it up.
