Playing around with my new camera on scene this morning (2:30 AM) at a non-working fire. In other words, we got on scene discovered no fire and pretty much waited for a quick glance with the thermal cam to clear the scene.
Camera used: Sony DSC-S650.
Didn't really play with the settings, instead I played with Flash and Snow settings.

Just a prank call. She saw some smoke and freaked out, but our thermal cam couldn't find anything, nor could a visual inspection. in the pics is our first due and the bread truck is our gear truck.
I'll probably take pictures of the inside of 49 Tuesday. Doesn't look like much on the outside, but on the inside it has four jump seats, extra SCBAs and a diamond plate floor.
I kinda wish I could of gotten some pics Yesterday. We had a two vehicle MVA, no one was hurt, and I had a chance to get some pics without getting anyone in the shots. We didn't have to do much more than traffic duty for it though.

Here's a pic of our cars ^^
I live in a 800 people village, so no big truck for us.
We have bigger trucks in our commune, though.
I'd really like to see your truck from the inside.
Never saw an american one. _________________ It's a shark! Oh my god! Unbelievable!

Our City isn't that big either, probably five thousand, but our chief has a black belt with grant applications. I hate to say it, but since 9/11 Emergency Response in our area has been able to get a lot of money for trucks we desperately needed, but couldn't afford without it. But yeah, I'll get new pics in of it. I'd do it now actually but I only do emergency runs in the snow where my POV is only a two wheel drive. :s
I got a better pic of the bread truck but it's kinda blurry. I'll load it up in a bit.
Edit: Pic of 49 leaving the scene last night. It was moving along with us and the pic is really fuzzy. I am still learning these features at night, especially in city conditions with fresh powder on the ground.
Edit (2): Youtube killed a lot of the quality from the video from the same camera, but here that is. Only 2-3 seconds long.

It was a book mobile. We got it for a $1 then built in a shelving unit on the driver side to store our Turn-out gear and it has four jump-seats on the passenger side, with extra bottles of o2 hung above them. It's top heavy as all fuck, but it saves us a lot of time on response time since we don't have to drive to the station to put our gear on. It's there when we arrive on scene.
We actually have two trucks we've picked up for a $1. The other was one we bought off the Police Department, which I think they paid $2 for it from Lexington Police. The truck was pretty much just used to sit out front of Rup Arena and worked as mobile command for crowd control. It was our Police Department's "SWAT" vehicle, then when that folded, we took it and turned it into a Special Operations unit for Swift water rescue and mountain rescue.
As for the video, we laugh our asses off when we see it. Our Asst. Chief actually had me look that up after I did our Driver's Course. I think he said the driver was going too fast and without any chains the minute he tried to turn the truck, the guy just lost control.
What did you think of the quality of the video though? I mean, it's not the greatest cause I am still getting my settings worked out, but for what I paid for it it's already proving better than the studio model my friend picked up for $500.

You can't really see anything in the video, and plus normal cameras don't take great video at night anyway. Let's see another longer one in the daytime. _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. Kinda kicking myself. After I read your post, Cyan, I went up to my grandparents. Thought about taking my camera but I stopped myself. Ended up, while I was there, we had a car crash. I had to work it, but I'd of gotten some real good pics after it was said an done, as well as a movie clip.
Still kicking myself over that one. I'd of got great pics of our rescue truck in action.

Another day, another car accident. There will be more. Hmm... I typed that kind of like it's a good thing. But it's not. Well, just keep the thing in the truck with you and pull it out when you need it.

Hm, I don't think the following is on-topic, oh well...
I crashed my car a few weeks ago, lost control during hail. It was more like ice skating than driving actually.
Driving in the snow with a 4x4 is awesome, though.

I've got a lot of new pictures, this time of Truck 49 and Rescue 51 on scene during Traffic Duty. We got called in due to the sheer amount of traffic and the fact the police where really shorthanded today. Post some of them when they get loaded.
Edit:
Pictures of Truck 49 and Rescue 51 on scene. As well as a few shots of the wreck today.

I see you use cars to block the roads, too.
Isn't the inside of that one truck a little... unorganized? You have to get out the shears and the spreader (are they called that way in english?) to access things.

It looks unorganized but the tray pulls out all the way. When it's out we've actually got everything placed in order by what we use most to what we typically use the least.
Which our jaws, cutters, etc. All of that rarely stays on the tray. What we'll do is pull those out then four guys will carry the cutters, spreader an pneumatics as a whole to the scene and we'll lay them down on tarps. We'll then have one runner going back getting items back an forth so that we keep room open for EMS and block the onlookers from the wreck with the rescue truck, when we can.
But, it is disorganized. lol. Sadly, I'll probably get yelled at for having a picture of it in that state.

The Bread Truck, Truck 49, is a mobile locker room and extra tool carrier. Where my department is Volunteer we either have to let everyone take their turnout gear home (Which usually runs about $1,000[plus] a bag.) or everyone has to go to the station, get the gear, and then run back out. So instead of doing all that we have all the turnout gear on the shelfs, with four jump-seats on the passenger side that have SCBA's ready to throw on an go.
From my own personal experience driving 49 it's like driving a flying brick. You can feel the drag, it's top heavy as all hell and on more than on occasion has tipped, but luckily not fallen over yet.
Rescue 51 is decked out for light duty rescue. Primary function is wrecks, secondary is that it runs in tandem with our second due Rescue truck (Rescue 53.) and they work in tandem for special operations. i.e. Mountain Rescue, Swift water rescue, crowd control. etc.
As it stands our department is the best equipped in the county. Because we work on the mindset that we are there not only for our jurisdiction but to help support the county as a whole. We've been blessed over the years, and lucky, that we had a Chief who has a vision for greater things but is down to earth enough to not put us in a bind.
As it stands currently in our fleet we have..
Engine Four - Pumper.
Engine Seven - Pumper.
Truck Forty-nine - Gear Truck
Truck Six - Hose Truck
Rescue Fifty-one - Light Duty Rescue.
Rescue Fifty-three - Special Operations
Rescue Fifty-two - ATV/Mule Search/Rescue
Rescue Sled - Stoaks Stretcher Trailer for an ATV
and lastly:
Car One - Chiefs' Vehicle. Chevy Tahoe.
Hopefully by next brush-fire season we'll have a trailer-based brushfire unit that we can hook onto our POV (Personally owned Vehicle.) and just tow to the scene instead of getting out a Pumper. It'd also be something we can tow with the 52. Which, for a Mule, it's a brute. Six wheels and it'll carry six people, eight with the Rescue Sled.

I actually got a decent amount of video tonight at a landing zone we set up for two birds. Sadly, I didn't get PHI or Lifenet's landing, and I only got Lifenet's take off, PHI did a hot load and we where having to keep family away from the chopper. I can't release any more information than that on the subject.
Lighting was horrible, I mean god I either had too much light, or not enough, or it was red and flashing. With that said the pictures where decent, but I had to do a lot of jumping around. In the end I'll probably get some screen caps from the video for our calender if we decide to use this take off. Though, I've decided I'm going to have to throw in a cheap 35mm to take pics with at night. Digital just doesn't have the depth I want.
In any case, the video I think is pretty good and can be found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xIxUAgjZRg I took that tonight. Actually, about two hours before this posting.
It gets real shaky, but I was fighting rotor wash really bad. Everyone was behind the Ambulances and I was kneeling about fifty to seventy-five feet away from the Air Medical unit. When they rotor up the wind caught my coat and I thought I was going to go sailing. I'd hate to see a smaller guy try to stand there, though. I'm 6'3 280lbs and I was fighting to maintain where I was at. Of course, I also didn't have the best footing either.

Not bad, but the first half of the video is pretty boring, you should have cut it out.

Yeah, I'll be editing the videos I get later on. This was just pretty much a "walked in, downloaded the pics and video, then loaded them and passed out." That scene was exhausting, didn't have to do a lot of work, but we did have to deal with about 20-35 family members... I honestly can't tell you how many where there other than to say it was a cluster-fuck. They crawled all over the ambulances, we had to make a human wall at one point to keep them from getting to the chopper that was hotloading.*
Sadly, we're hearing both patients died. I know the girl did (Found out later it was a girl and a boy, not two males, but confusion like that is common.). I'm getting tired of drunk drivers, but what kills me isn't the fact people are dumb enough to drive drunk as much as it is that these friggin idiots never get hurt. We have a boy with massive head trauma and both legs broken, and the drunk is fine.
*for the uninitiated hotloading is loading a chopper while it's rotor is still powered up.
