Quote: | Continuum 0.40
- fixed server errors caused by the client in 0.39
- improved for better compatibility with Windows XP and Vista
Continuum 0.39 (beta)
- added additional anti-cheating checks (e.g. CE hacks no longer work)
- edited for better compatibility with Windows XP and Vista
- fixed graphical issues for certain graphics cards
- fixed multiple bugs that caused Continuum not to load on Windows XP.
(..)
Continuum 0.39 pre-release 1
-fixed proximity bomb bug introduced in 0.38
-fixed crash in some systems few seconds after entering zone

Yes, skipped pr2 and pr3 since they're useless and were never adapted.
And besides the changing the number, no one's really proven me otherwise the difference between 0.39 and 0.40 .
The other major difference is that 0.40 is a full release and re-updates the registry. And if you don't backup your stuff (e.g. pw), you'll lose them. |

The losing password part was due to a bug in the beta version of the installer. That one was leaked over at Trench Wars. The one actually released doesn't kill your passwords.
As for the 0.39 -> 0.40, the real reason it jumped to 0.40 was because they released the 0.39 beta out when they shouldn't have, that 0.39pr1 was out for years, and the following 0.39 beta fixes:
- Security info is repaired, so it should run in current zones if misc:AllowPreRelease=1
- The energy deplete greens bug repaired.
- No changes need be made to AS3 server to run this version.
