Okay, I just purchased myself a nice a shiney Ninentdo DS Lite, expecting to be able to play online with my house network. So I pop open the box, boot my DS up, and try to connect to the Wi-Fi. But alas! My router uses WPA encryption, which the Nintendo DS does not support. To make things worse, I have no control over my router settings. So here is what I'm Attempting to do:

I am now trying to use my Wireless Network Card on my PC to create a "bridge" from my DS to my router, bypassing the encrytion. Basically, I need my wireless card to allow my DS to go through my computer, to my Access Point. Diagram:

Nintendo DS ---> PC With Wireless Card ---> Access Point ---> Modem ---> Internet

Is this possible, or am I fighting a losing battle?

you need 2 network adaptors (ie two wireless cards in your laptop) to create a bridge.

Unless you've got a special wireless card, yeah, I think you need two cards to be on two wireless networks at the same time. That's why you always disconnect when scanning for other wireless networks.

If you wanted to bridge a wireless and wired connection, that is quite possible.

He already installed a second wireless interface after posting. I guess I should have posted a summary of the conversation we've had.
But basically, next to all the pr0n we've exchanged, he couldn't get the new card to work.

Basically, I told him to make sure to try it with the third party software that came with the devices.
I've noticed that ICS won't let you bridge between two wireless network connections when using ZeroConfig. It kept dropping the Ad-Hoc connection. I may have been the only one having this problem, but I never found a workaround.

So, if you encounter the same problem, try using the third party software that came with the interfaces to setup the wireless connections. Then bridge using the Windows configs.

Solo Ace and I talked about the two wireless cards and I tried adding a second. However, I can't get the computer to recognize that there are two different cards. This may be a drivers issue, but I'm not entirely sure.

And to Dr. Brain:

I'm not trying to bridge a wireless and a wire connection, I'm more trying to bridge a wireless and a wireless connection.

I got one step further, but I'm at another conundrum.

I got my computer to recognize both wireless cards now. I can make one card broadcast and my DS can recognize that it's broadcasting. My new current issue is bridging Wireless Card A ( Which is the Wireless card that connects to my router and is my main internet, which I'll call Wc:A) and Wireless Card B ( Which is the wireless card that is broadcasting a non WPA encryption for my DS, which will be called Wc:B) so that the DS can connect to the internet.

Issues I've had:

When using the XP bridge tool, I lose my Wc:A connection and I am not able to broadcast at all with Wc:B for my DS.

When sharing a connection with Wc:A and Wc:B, I lose my main internet connection again.

I've tried a bunch of things, and have not found a solution. I just need to find a way to connect my Wc:A and Wc:B...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Bleh, yeah, I'd need to use the ZeroConfig bridging... but there Must be another way!

you can use internet connection sharing wizard probably. Bridging only became advailable in XP and thats what to had to use before,
