Since my school has been overloading me with paperwork for the past 3 years I've been keeping an archive for the paperwork. Too bad I'm getting tired of it all and I sorted most of it out.
But, there's still a few hundreds of documents left. I wanted to digitally archive them, but before I'm buying a new Office All-in-one solution I want try it this way, with the "good ol' HP OfficeJet G85".
The Wizard scanner and camera is being a pain, though.
I'm scanning multiple documents and store them on the hard drive. But whenever Wizard scanner and camera finishes the scan job, it deletes all the saved files except for the first one it created.
The directory the files are saved in is just a regular directory, just ordinary flags, no weird characters, no long names.
I was thinking about getting one from the HP Officejet Pro L7000 all-in-one series. Those can scan documents to a network drive directly without even having a computer next to it.
But, first I want a solution to this crazy problem. Why would the Wizard delete all the files except for the first? It doesn't delete other files in the directory, only those it just scanned. Except for the first one.
Any trick I can prevent it from deleting the files with? I don't feel like using a stupid script to copy the files instantly to another directory to make sure I still have a copy, that's just stupid.
Is this a bug or something? The OS of that computer's WinXP Pro SP2. |

Change the OS?
I'm kidding. It sounds like an issue with the application itself. I would try to find another application. I never had issues with my camera on windows or linux. |

You're talking about the built-in XP wizard? _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. Cyan~Fire assumes no responsibility for any loss or delay resulting from such use.

I was using the XP built-in Wizard scanner/camera. It seemed to be a bug in the software.
After that, I used the utility that came with Office XP, which handled multiple documents without any problem.
Last thursday I bought a HP Officejet Pro L7680, haven't unpacked it yet, but scanning files to drives will be a lot easier then. |

I'm glad you got your problem fixed. I hate it when built-in applications screw up like that. It sucks to have to buy new software just to make it work. |

Well I already had it anyway, of course.
I still wonder if this issue is for all XP installs or only that one, I don't know. I'll check later. |

It always worked fine for my sister and me. Is it in Dutch or is it the same as the English versions? That's really weird. |

It's just when you're scanning multiple documents (with a feeder on the scanner) to TIF files. It only keeps the first scanned file and deletes the others when it's done scanning them all.
I don't know, put some paper with text on it in your feeder and scan them. Look what happens. |
