I don't know any C or C++ or anything and was wondering if it were possible to make a bot in VB. Are there any SDKs or anything?

Thanks,
-Dion

It's possible, yes, there have been two major VB bots made by Catid and Snarkload.
I suggest you use Snark's bot as the base. SSDL should have it

catid's site has an old VB bot (unsupported, no docu, GOOD LUCK). he also has some stuff about protocol, which may or may not make sense to you.
try hacking his bot modules.

That snarkbot isn't exactly the bot I was thinking about... I was thinking more like a program that connected to the subspace zone so that I could create something like a CTF bot and still be able to play in that zone on the same computer... These programs seem to just enter keys while subspace is up and connected to the zone.

OMG that VB Mervbot is freakin' huge. >_<

And I don't understand some of that shit in there, which doesn't make it any easier.

I've never made a program where I had to connect something to a server without an SDK to make it easy for me... How would I start with something like this? Any good sites to help me out?

Thank,
-Dion

Are there any VB SDKs for Subspace or do I have to figure it all out through these enormous programs? icon_cry.gif

there are no SDKs so far as I know...unfortunately, youll have to learn to manage the protocol (guide abailable as addendum.txt at catid's site) to write your own, or make use of someone else's. C++ isnt too hard if you have a firm foundation in VB (its how i started). take the time to look over the MERV tutorial. Alternately, you could just download and configure the CTF bot that is already written for MERV (Catid's site again).
if you just want basic CTF you can probably get it from the CTF plugin

LOL, to be honest, I don't particularly give a shit about a bot - I just want to program and I have nothing to program so here I go. tongue.gif I thought I had a firm grasp around VB but I do thinkgs my own damn way and never took a course or read a book or nothing so my code is absolutely disgusting. LMAO tongue.gif But it's not too terrible. Syntax is fine, I learned QBasic last year and the syntax is very similar.

I'd love to get into C++ but for some reason, it's been rather intimidating and I haven't begun yet... maybe this is about the time that I should. Or maybe I should learn the protocol in VB and then move on to C++...

What do you think?

Erms.. VB MERVbot is outdated.. When you take the source and attempt to build the executable you get soo many bugs (most likely from coding changes from the vers of VB mervbot was programmed in to the vers i'm programming in) =/
