well I just got the Balster Audigy SE, and on my SG-72 (abit) motherboard I disabled the onbaord Realtek AC97 audio card via BIOS.

Now when I pop my Audgiy SE to the PCI windows XP dosnt detect it, why?

Is my PCI slot 2.1 complaint? Beucase on box it says it needs to be and I can find this anywhere (checked manual/googled)

Other than windows sucking, try making sure you installed all the software that came with it. Try adding it through the control panel. If all else fails visit tech support. If you haven't already, remove the card, start the pc, shut down, put the card in, start up and see if it fixes it.

That's all I know to do.

I've never heard of PCI 2.1, but that doesn't mean anything. Anyway... Halo is on Windows. >_> Besides, Linux can't run GunBound. Seriously, I could see some people using Linux as their main computer if they only used their computer for certain things like, writing papers... but Windows has a lot of capability and power that Linux doesn't. I think it's ridiculous to try to compare the two OSes, they're for different things. Besides, Windows is amazing at what it does... lets dumb people use computers. Whether that's a good thing or not, you have to decide. The way I choose to see it, Windows is responsible for the spread of computers into normal people's homes. Which has been good for the computer world as a whole. As the matter of fact, the effect of Windows and Microsoft on the computer world as a whole is so big it probably can't ever be measured.

Anyway, did you check the hardware section of Windows Update?

Have you tried updating the BIOS? Also, try uninstalling the drivers for the onboard before you put the card in. (Probably won't make a difference, but who knows.)
