Well, first of all, you need permission from your host to run a background processes. Almost every shared hosting site out there does not allow you to do such. Second, you need a way to actually start/stop it, which means either a script control over the website or SSH access.
Based upon your wording in your question, I doubt your host permits you to run background processes. |
