Sometimes DNS queries from my computer just fail. It happens in Firefox, IE, and manual nslookup. Other computers in my house are just fine.
Any advice? _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. Cyan~Fire assumes no responsibility for any loss or delay resulting from such use.

What DNS server are you using? Running ipconfig /all in command prompt will tell you. Using any Linux machines? Setup bind for a DNS forwarder, makes lookups faster. As for a master DNS server, I use 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2. Give those a shot.
But it does sound like a spyware related problem. Scan for them using whatever favorite tool you like. |

No spyware as far as I can tell.
I don't think it's the DNS servers since the other working computers are using the same ones, but I will try those two. Thanks. |

Try seeing if something is in your winsock stack that shouldn't be. This page has good instructions on using the two winsock repair tools. |

Net diag reported no errors for Winsock.
But I added your DNS servers after the two provided by my ISP and haven't had any problems since. Sometimes it takes a little while to lookup, during which I'm assuming it's trying the first two and failing. Weird, but many thanks. |
