This should have been posted in General Questions. Forward your ports on your router. Also make sure that a Windows Firewall is NOT blocking it.

First off, what kind of router do you have? If you have a Linksys router, open up a Internet Explorer window, or FireFox, and in the Address Bar, type in: 192.168.1.1

If your router has not been configured before, then put no username in, and for the password, use "admin".

One you get in, at the top, you should see an Applications and Gaming tab. Under that tab, you will be able to forward your ports.

Remember, when you forward a port, always forward the port + 1. EXAMPLE: You want for forward port 15000, so you have it start at 15000, and end at 15001.

Default, lol, you don't need to install a router.

hellzlaker, if you tried that, then it means that the password and/or username has been changed.

No, you don't. You only need to forward the ports if you want the public to play. Since he doesn't have the router password, I helped him set it up so that he doesn't need to forward the ports. Only problem he has is the first screenshot I posted.

As you can see, subgame and subbill are working just fine. His zone is green on his list with a 10ms ping, but he keeps getting the error on the first screenshot.

Hmm alright then, forget what I have said. I had the same problems before. Since I have re-installed the installing cd-rom that came with the router. Then they will be no problems forwarding ports..

The cd comes with your internet provider. You can also download it some where.

You don't need to install any software to make this work.

Have you tried reinstalling Continuum? Removing/re-adding the zone entry?

I REINSTALED continuum, and when i go to add custom zone and add name of my zone ip is 127.0.0.1 and my port which is 2000. when i do that and run my zone it says zone is up 1 player but it doesnt say description and when i try to log in it says failed conect server even it says pin is 10

but when i run my subgame and subil and go to a zone list i find my zone and add it, it says zone is down but it shows description and my real ip 67. etc not 127.0.0.1

wel i have no idea wut to do, also i dont want my zone public yet cuz i cant i just want to c if i can play it alone so i can work on my maps.

oh ye 1 more question, when u make a working server for a zone can u make a .com or .net website or any other type (i know how to make and use html)

The point of adding a custom zone is to not use the one provided by the directory server. Don't add the zone from the directory, just start up subgame and connect to the custom zone you made. (Give it a different name to differentiate between the two.)

About the website: you'll need to register a domain name with a registrar like GoDaddy. You'll also need to get hosting, but a few people on this forum have plenty of space, and I'm sure they'd let you have some. I would too, but I only have 100MB and it's barely enough for myself.

FYI Linksys uses many different usernames and passwords for there routers. If none of the ones from http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_sid=3pOULOTh (put your info in the right places and search for port forwarding) work then you need to trip the reset switch on the router to reset everything. Personly my router uses admin as both the username and the password. Some even use 12345 as the username and password. You just need to search there tech support for your router model to find that info out.

CYAN i dont get wut r u saying. do u mean like im not suposed to look 4 my zone in the directory just go and ad custom 1. well i tried to do that and it says zone is online ping is 10 but same thing as last time it says failed to conect server and it says zone may not exist or it may be down. I dont get it cuz zone is in green and ping is 10

also when i trace custom zone ping is 127.0.0.1 and it has like 20 hops

when i trace zone from directory it shows my real ip and has only 2 hops

That doesn't make any sense. Are you sure that you're connecting to your custom zone? And what does your subgame console say?

And please try to write grammatically, it really helps us to read what you're saying.

Note to self: Never put your name on an app. It might show up on a screen cap with a general protection fault.

I'm kind of confused, when i run subbbil and subgame they say server conected, then i go to butten called zones in continuum and go where it says add/update zones and i look for my zone there

then I add it, when I add it, it showes deescription of it, but says failed to conect server and my zone is down, while my subgame says its conected

the other thing i tried to do is I went to add/update zones, clicked add custom zone and typed in my zones name, port, and ip 127.0.0.1
when I do that it doesnt show description of my zone when I right click it but insted it says Ping is 10 and Zone is up (green) So I tryed to log on it and it said failed to conect server while zone's ping was 10

sory i didnt answer my computer broke yesterday cuz i instaled somethin =(
