Try running memtest86. If you are bad at making CDs, use Ultimate Boot CD, which contains memtest86 on it along with a host of other useful programs. Run it for a hour or so. If you have bad ram, it usually detects the errors fairly quickly.

I was thinking whenever i have time this weekend taking 1 of my chips out and running the test and seeing what happens then testing the 2nd chip to see what happens. Maybe just 1 of the chips is having errors. I have a feeling its the generic chip that I started out with 2 years ago.

So how does a memory tester "expect" a value at a specific offset? _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. Cyan~Fire assumes no responsibility for any loss or delay resulting from such use.

i took 1 chip out and its running great now.... i noticed that 1 of the chips is a single layer (chips on only 1 side of the module) and the other it dual layers (chips on both sides) couldn't that be the issue? like 1 chip is a 64 X 4 and the other is a 128 X 2 ?

Yes, it's possible weavil, but that shouldn't be the issue. In an ideal world, you could mix any type of memory and not have crashing problems, it would just slow down your system.
And yeah, that does make sense Ekted, lol.
