To help keep the database size to a minimum, I have currently put into place an ignore limit of 30 topics and a watch limit of 50 topics. As soon as you try to ignore/watch another topic, the oldest one you are currently ignore/watching (age based upon last post in said topic) will be removed.
This policy is only going to effect two people. One checked the subscribe to all topics they post in, and the other is using the ignore feature as a simple watch-list. In the first case, it would be better to just use the Ego Search feature, which finds all topcis you posted in.
Does this really effect anyone else? Nah. I'm just slowly adding in ways in which to keep the database small since I currently have no policy to purge any posts as of yet. Which brings the database upto 50 meg as of now, with attachments for posts upto 50 meg also. I still have plenty of hard drive space to easily run this for another 4 years without having to remove anything, but would like to try and keep a clean ship. |

Ah, I'm ignoring 40 because people are just stupid and post really pointless topics that deserved to be ignored... I've noticed this forum is beginning to become SSF-like. No major useful topic information is being added; a lot of redundant questions are asked when people can just use the search option. There'd be more of a rant here but I'm going to bed, had a long day.
Edit: I do want to take this time though to say thanks to both MGB and Shanky who have spent their time and money in providing this site. There is a lot of useful information; it's just a shame people have to ruin it. _________________ Performance is often the art of cheating carefully. - James Gosling |
