The map should be named after the arena. That is, "test.lvl" for ?go test. _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. Ok if you havent already done this and need to create your own server.cfg for your subarena. Lets say its called "test". So you will call it Test.cfg and leave you pub map and server.cfg in the same folder as well. Rememberyou will still need to have your origanal server.cfg and test.cfg so your pub and subarena will work. Ok now in your server.ini under custom there will be a option called: ArenaMode. Change this option to 5 so it will be ArenaMode=5. That should be about it. If this doesent work then you might be doing somthign wroung. |

You don't need a separate cfg to have an arena with a different map. |

You can try and reextract the server files and see if that works. I've never had a problem this complexed. |

Isn't it almost the same as *putfile with extra security measures for arena owners? _________________

*putfile is a sysop command. ?setlevel is a arena-owner command. So if you are a sysop, then you don't need to use the ?setlevel command. Plus I think the problem might be that you are naming your files either long names or your server is unable to over-write the map file. Make sure it isnt protected in any way by the OS (attrib). The *putfile command can upload all files except executables (dlls, exe, ect). The ?setlevel only uploads lvl files. Make sure, when you use either command, that you have the file you wish to upload in your continuum directory. _________________ Current Terror Alert Level

OK well, now i can set other maps in for some crazy reason, but I still cant fix the level that it was messing up on. So we just dropped that arena and renamed it. Somehow that problem was fixed. |

If you use ?setlevel newmapname.lvl in a subarena, the map will automatically be renamed to arenaname.lvl .. that's how the arena maps are found on the server. The arena for main pub will always be renamed to whatever the value of misc:defaultlevelfile is in server.ini.
So, having the map name cut off might be a problem with the length of the arena name, not the map file name.
I just did a test, and uploading to an arena name of more than 12 letters (?setlevel test.lvl in ?go longarenanametest) does cause the name of the received file to be truncated. I also tried creating longarenanametest.lvl locally and uploading it with *putfile, but that was truncated also. Finally, I just put longarenanametest.lvl in the server folder, but it was not found when I went to that subarena. Further, the cfg file created was truncated as well.
An arena with a 12-letter name (such as warpraceduel) works for the cfg file, but not for the map file, again no matter how I tried to make it recognized. I would guess that 11 letters is probably the limit on how long you can make an arena name and still get it to work. _________________
