I am having a problem with SSME.
I made a tileset and I made a bit of a map with it. Tiles seemed to work great ect ect. Than I closed ssme and opened it up later and tried to load the map. It said in an error box ::
"The map tile data is corrupt:
Tile ID out of range!"
Whats this mean? |

Can you post the bad lvl file? I wonder whats really happening to these files... I assume it wouldn't be too hard to repair. |

If you open a map you made with Paint or photoshop, work on the tiles and safe it, the map will not load properly anymore, normaly you'll get a empty map. Im not sure if this is what happend tho... Anyway it indicates that something went wrong with ur tileset. Or SSME just fucked up once again |

The reason some other program will screw it up is that they regard the actual map data as trash, just extra stuff appended to the bitmap. So never edit a map with something other than a map/tile editor. |

I had that same problem too! At first I thought I lost all my work, but to recover it,
-download Beta Map Editor (available at Subspace Downloads)
-Open the map in Meta Map Editor
-Save it
Now it should open up in SSME. I don't know why this happens, but everytime you save in SSME it wont be able to open in SSME again until you save it in Beta...weird |

One problem I know of for sure is that SSME assumes the tileset (bitmap) portion of the file has exactly 256 palette entries. An 8-bit BMP can have any number of palette entries UP TO 256. SSME does not use the built in Windows API function LoadImage() to load the tileset, which would have worked fine. It loads the image "manually". This is the likely cause of some SSME problems. _________________ 4,691 irradiated haggis! |
