I am a bot maker for DSB and I havn't really posted here before but I have recieved alot of help by reading the topics on this board. It still happends sometimes that I run into problems that I cant find a solution to on here and I would like to talk to another coder to get more instant help. Its often small things that just takes me alittle extra time to figure out and that arent really worthy of a topic here. I would ofcourse gladly share any knowledge I have with the other coders on a chat like this.
My question basically is, do a chat like this exist that I could get on?
If not I would like to start one. Ill be sitting on this chat for now:
?chat=botmakers
ps. This topic is mainly aimed towards C++ merv coders.

Note that you can't send messages on chat 8, just receive them. Don't ask me why. _________________ 4,691 irradiated haggis! |

You can, as long as you are not a moderator or higher. JeffK was once known to accidently type a password of some sort that instead of starting with an *, he used 8. So everyone in the zone saw it plain text. This maybe the reason for why it was added, so whenever his finger slipped on the Shift key, he wouldn't repeat his mistake.
Ekted, you know that how chats are sent, it begins with the number. This number must also be check in the filter that was made, and thus is ignored. If you have a bot send ;8;Test in the chat command instead of 8;Test, it will send.
As to why Priit didn't remove this, probably because he doesn't know, nor doesn't care enough to remove it. I do believe at least one text channel, I think remote team (ie: "test), will work with starting 8. |

Is that a subgame thing, or a client thing?
I'm guessing it works on ASSS. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

I think it must be a subgame thing otherwise PriitK would have to explicitly clone it into ctm.
With asss I think you can name chat channels, like ;botmakers;hi, this probably requires a compatible biller though.
What do you people think about biller's allowing you to be logged in more than once? It would be a lot easier to add chat channels to my biller if they can only login to one zone at a time (I guess I could just store a separate chat list storing pid and server id against a hashed channel name instead of trying to squeeze everything into the Player class). |

Don't all the current billers kick you off if someone logs in with your name in another zone?
I know the SSC biller used to, years and years ago. I haven't tested it since then. |
