Is it bad to make someone a sysop immediately? This person says he's been a Smod in Trench Wars and a Mod in Gauntlet and he wants to be a Sysop in my zone to do things such as coordinate events, and hire referees. I have a feeling that the person will cause some mischief. Does this happen often and what could that person do? |

They can modify all files on the server. Change server/arena settings, edit mods, smods, sysops. I think it might even be possible to upload a modified subgame and do *recycle to cause to be executed some code that they wrote, which would give them complete access to the machine, blocking you out in the process. _________________ 4,691 irradiated haggis! |

Subgame refuses a bunch of file extensions to be uploaded/deleted(/downloaded), .exe, .dll etc.
Anyway, who is it? |

His name was Airborne Division. He said he was part of the 101st Airborne Division at Iraq. And that he was on his laptop there. |

Hmm'k, don't believe him.
What he says about modship in t3g is incorrect, if you're still not sure, go ask there.
Why would he even *need* sysop for such crappy jobs anyway?
Even a lowly moderator could coordinate events and hire referees. |

Once a TW ER got sysop in one of my hosted zones and randomly *super-ed whenever he got killed for revenge. You make the decision. _________________ This help is informational only. He was never a mod here (T3 The G)
And Picano's log looks pretty pathetic.
I wouldn't give him anything, but knock yourself out _________________

Whatever you've done, you shouldn't have said you were staff at other zones, since you weren't. |

Ok Jaq, dont hire him he's obviously bs'ing you, I wouldn't hire anyone you dont know as sysop immediately without giving them a trial at a lower position, and if it doesn't seem right, go with your gut instinct, if they abuse as sysop i'd ban them just to make it easy for you, and definately make sure you backup all your server files, _________________ z0rz |

alias checks checks IP addresses too, as well as linking aliases used with the same macID / permissionID. So unless you changed machines exactly when you changed ip addresses (ISPs) and never logged on your new alias on your old machine or your old alias on your new machine, the aliases will be linked |

Aren't you kind of busy flying airplanes or something to be running around as sysop? _________________

Answer: Yes, it's bad to hire someone you don't know who hasn't helped the zone at all (or played the zone at all). Make them work for a while without zone powers. Get to know them. THEN and ONLY then, make the decision to hire them. _________________ Hyperspace Owner
