Is it possible to encrypt an lvz to keep your files private? Maybe an added feature in the next lvztoolkit would be the ability to password protect your lvz's so only the owner can extract and edit the files.

ok, maybe not a total encryption but maybe like a way to password protect it. The server could still read it but lvztoolkit would ask for a password if it was. Its just a general question if its possible. A way to keep original art and sound files private. |

Possible to have the lvz toolkit ask for a password, yes, but it would be so rediculusly simple to bypass, that it's a waste of perfectly good dev time. |

even if you could encrypt it, you could still get the contents if they're loaded in an arena
if you want to slow up the n00bs from ripping off your images directly from a downloaded .lvz file, try saving in .png format and then renaming the extension to .bm2 |

SS/Continuum (except for the game itself lol) is a very open-source community. There's basically no way to keep something private . I'd put a little readme.txt in the lvz that says some copyright stuff so you can screw people who use your stuff. _________________ This help is informational only. Then I think the client should be released to a real dev team |

simple solution.. pay a lawyer to copyright your art; and get the courts to issue supena's and wallah you can protect your art that way.. otherwise good luck XD
btw copyright lawyers are $$ XD... lol |

Well you don't need a lawyer to copyright your art, the copyright notice automatically does that.
This message (c) David Tombs 2004. (Aww this board doesn't let you use HTML character codes!) {But you can use ALT+0169, aka © -MGB}
Now this message is protected by international copyright laws. (Don't worry I'm not going to kill you if you quote me )
But it does require a lawyer to prosecute people for using your copyrighted materials without permission. But you usually get enough money that the lawyer $$ doesn't come out of your own pocket. |

I don't think its that easy to legally copyright something, cyan. Copyrights cost money =P But atleast with a fake copyright, you can fool someone into believing it =P |

I'm almost positive copyrights are free. The only part that costs money is suing the people who violate it. But I haven't actually researched it, you may be right. |

If you use a PNG, embed your (C) into the picture. That way when someone steals it without modification, it's easy to prove. |
