[if it's NOT your zone and you just want to see different ships in some zone you play, scroll to the bottom]
if it IS your zone you want to add images to (you have sysop/etc)...
download lvztoolkit.zip
extract it (Continuum>lvztoolkit is a good place )
you probably have one or more of the following files (ships or ship images):
ships.bm2
wbroll.bm2
jvroll.bm2
sproll.bm2
lvroll.bm2
teroll.bm2
weroll.bm2
nwroll.bm2
shroll.bm2
ship1.bm2
ship2.bm2
ship3.bm2
ship4.bm2
ship5.bm2
ship6.bm2
ship7.bm2
ship8.bm2
they do not have to be .bm2's, they can have any of the following file extensions:
.bm2
.bmp
.gif
.jpg
.png
you can use an imaging program (like mspaint/photoshop/photo suite) to convert them into a different file format to save space (.gif, for instance is often smaller in filesize than .bmp) - this will make for shorter download time when entering the arena the ships are to be used in
open up wordpad, notepad or any text editor
type in the following, for instance, if you only have the file "ships.bm2" (or .gif, .jpg, .bmp, .png) to add
Quote: |
outfile=whatever.lvz
file=ships.bm2
|
where "whatever" = whatever name you like
basically add a "file=" line for whatever images you have
eg. if you have just ship1.bm2 and wbroll.bm2, then you'd want this...
Quote: |
outfile=whatever.lvz
file=ship1.bm2
file=wbroll.bm2
|
save your file as whatever.ini (again, whatever name you like, but for organization's sake, you might want to make the name the same or similar to what you put for "outfile=") - save it in the same directory as the ship images
run the program "buildlevel.exe" from lvztoolkit.zip
it will open up a browse box, find and select you .ini file ("whatever.ini")
this should build a file "whatever.lvz" in the same directory as the .ini
-------
now, if the zone is on your own server, just copy "whatever.lvz" into your server's directory
if it is not your server, put "whatever.lvz" into the main Continuum directory and use "*putfile whatever.lvz" in-game (must be sysop - if you aren't sysop, get the file to a sysop and get sysop to do it for you)
-------
get a copy of the .cfg ("*getfile arenaname.cfg" - must be sysop) of the arena you want the ship images to be used in ("server.cfg" for public arenas - usually "arenaname.cfg" for individual subarenas)
find the setting "misc:levelfiles=" ("levelfiles=" in the [Misc] section)
make it "misc:levelfiles=whatever.lvz" - save changes and "*putfile arenaname.cfg" (you can also type "?set misc:levelfiles=whatever.lvz" in-game in the arena of choice if you like)
enter the arena with the .cfg (.set) file you just altered (or re-enter if you're already in it) and you should download the images and they should function (new ship images should be up) - might take a moment for the download to work, just keep re-entering (of course if it doesn't work after 5 minutes or so something is probably wrong )
that's it
-------
if it's NOT your zone...
just take the images and put them into the folder of the zone you desire
example - for SSCN Crucial Warzone, put the images in "Continuum>zones>SSCN Crucial Warzone" folder
OR, you can put the images in the folder "Continuum>graphics" to have them used by default in ALL zones - understand that you may want to first copy and save the original images in that folder elsewhere, if you save over them you may have to go to some trouble to get them again should you no longer wish to use your new ship images
---
any trouble, post again |
