What is the Flame Spray and how does it work?

The Flame Spray is a quick-use gadget that sprays fire in the direction you aim. Unlike many other weapons or gadgets in Arc Raiders, Flame Spray isn’t unlocked in the workshop or through permanent crafting. It has to be crafted during the round, meaning you need the right materials on hand and the in-round crafting skill active.

In practical terms, the Flame Spray is best for clearing swarms or applying continuous damage in tight corridors. Its damage output is around 10 per second, which isn’t huge, but it can control enemy movement and set traps for AI units. The gadget weighs 1.0 unit and cannot be stacked—so each one occupies its own inventory slot.

How do you get the materials for Flame Spray?

To craft the Flame Spray, you’ll need:

1 × Air Freshener

1 × Fireball Burner

Both of these can usually be scavenged during a round. Air Fresheners tend to appear in supply caches or lootable crates, while Fireball Burners are more often found in combat zones or dropped by certain enemy types.

Many players make the mistake of hoarding resources for the workshop, forgetting that Flame Spray requires in-round materials. Keep an eye on inventory and don’t wait until the last minute to craft it—crafting early allows you to start using it before fights escalate.

How does in-round crafting work?

In-round crafting is different from the workshop. You need the In-Round Crafting skill active, and the items must be in your inventory. Once you combine the Air Freshener and Fireball Burner, you’ll have one Flame Spray ready to use immediately.

A common practical tip is to craft multiple Flame Sprays if your team has enough materials. Even though each one takes up a slot, having two or three ready allows you to switch between gadgets or use them on multiple waves without returning to a supply point.

Can the Flame Spray be repaired?

Yes. Flame Spray durability can be restored, which is important if you’re using it heavily. The repair requirements are:

1 × Canister

1 × Fireball Burner

Repairing adds +50 durability. Most players tend to burn through Flame Spray quickly in high-density areas, so having spare Canisters and Fireball Burners in your inventory is a good habit. If you neglect repairs, the gadget will break mid-fight, which can disrupt your team’s control over enemy waves.

What about recycling or salvaging Flame Spray?

If you end up with extra Flame Sprays, recycling or salvaging is an option. Recycling returns both the Canister and Fireball Burner, while salvaging yields a Fireball Burner. In practice, this means you can always recover at least part of your materials if you need to free up inventory space.

This is particularly useful in longer rounds where scavenging is limited. Experienced players often cycle through crafting, using, and salvaging to maintain a steady supply of Fireball Burners, which are also needed for repairs.

Should I buy the blueprint or rely on in-round crafting?

Flame Spray is a bit unusual compared to other gadgets. While you can craft it in-round, some players wonder if it’s worth investing in the blueprint. For those looking to streamline the process and ensure they can craft it every round without scavenging, it’s reasonable to buy Vulcano blueprint. Owning the blueprint guarantees you can access the Flame Spray as soon as you start gathering materials, which is especially helpful in coordinated team play.

Best strategies for using Flame Spray

In practice, most players use Flame Spray for:

Crowd control – Spray fire across chokepoints to slow down multiple enemies at once.

Area denial – Placing yourself in strategic locations can prevent AI units from advancing.

Support for teammates – Combine with other team members’ damage or traps to maximize effectiveness.

It’s less about dealing huge damage and more about controlling the battlefield. Experienced players usually coordinate with their squad to avoid accidentally setting each other on fire.

Common mistakes to avoid

From playing multiple rounds, I’ve noticed some recurring issues:

Waiting too long to craft – Materials can get used by teammates, leaving you without a Flame Spray when you need it.

Over-reliance on Flame Spray – While effective, it shouldn’t replace other weapons. Treat it as a gadget, not a primary damage source.

Ignoring repairs – Using a half-broken Flame Spray can lead to downtime at critical moments. Always monitor durability and repair when you have extra materials.

Flame Spray is a niche but very practical gadget in Arc Raiders. Its strength lies in area control rather than raw damage. Understanding the crafting and repair mechanics, keeping an eye on materials, and using it strategically in coordination with teammates is key. For players who want to ensure consistent access, it’s a good idea to buy Vulcano blueprint so crafting becomes more reliable each round.

If you approach the Flame Spray quest methodically, you can make it a dependable part of your loadout rather than a situational novelty.
