I'm playing some Subspace and I feel like moving forward into the vast area of space, I lay down the ol' up arrow. Now as I'm flyin' through space I see a ship, for reasons unknown, I want to kill him. What do I do when I get him in my sights? I FIRE with the CTRL key. Sadly I miss because the the bastard has a souped up Hyperthermalsuperdiggy device. I need to turn around to boost up my HyperJET STREAM P.O.S. but as I'm holding down the keys CTRL left arrow (I'm firing and moving forward) -apawn keying the left arrow it wont turn, it just ignores the key, now the right arrow works. That means I can do up arrow CTRL and right arrow (Move, turn, and fire.)
Anyone know why my left arrow wont combine with 2 other keys? |

Yeah, your keyboard isn't up to the task. It's probably a cheap model that can't handle the arrow keys uniquely. I think your only solution is to get a new keyboard. Perhaps other people on this board will suggest models. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

Back in the day, my shift key would lock on if I was holding other keys such as the arrows...
I developed a reflex of tapping the shift key after I first release it to unlock it.
It felt weird when I got my new computer and it didn't do that... _________________ (Insert a bunch of dead links here) |

Expensive doesn't mean it isn't designed in a cheap manner. Give Rollover (key) a read on Wikipedia to read about how they make keyboards cheaper than have 100+ real inputs. Almost all keyboards are 3-key rollover, which sucks when you start playing games. To keep that claim, any two keys on the keyboard must be recognized correctly. You may get a manufacturer that makes a keyboard so you can hit WASD all at the same time, but make it weaker where the arrow keys are all setup so that they are limited down with almost every other key combination.
Just be thankful you never have to try braille on your keyboard, because they require a much higher rollover to be successful. |

I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a keyboard but it was a gift so I can't not use it....I guess I'll have to give up gaming.
Edit: Thanks guys, apawn reading more about the rollover, this KB was made for wasd since it has a nice little 'gaming pad' (I guess you could call it) I programmed the arrow key so that and it don't lock anymore. Using it for a shooter or WoW is almost natural feeling but trying to use it with Continuum...its awkward because your using the left hand for movement. I'll just get used to it and have to drag it around with me to LAN parties. |

You could get a small game pad (like the nostromo speedpad or wolf claw) for your left hand, and use wasd with your right hand. Actually, using a game pad might let you use the arrow keys normally. |

You know, you can just map the keys in Continuum right? Made WASD movement, enter to chat, and CTRL/SHIFT/etc to other keys with your right hand. |

Use a Wii Remote with GlovePIE? Assuming you have bluetooth, but you can turn the wii remote like a steering wheel and it will turn your ship. Kinda fun if a little unwieldy
Or just use the nunchuck/classic. The real problem is the lack of buttons. I have a hard time of setting portals/antiwarp/other stuff. You could use motion sensors but they may go off when you just won a duel with someone good. |

Fun Fact - Blind people with braille keyboards type faster on average than people with the inferior QWERTY, and they only have six keys. |
