jcnlib is a library for adding chatnet functionality to a new java application. It is not a bot core or anything like that.
There's not a great deal of documentation written for this, but for the most part it's fairly self explanatory. If you have any questions, post them either here or on ssforum.
Updates and such are posted here:

Sounds badass. Looks like one step closer to getting a Chatnet plugin for Pidgin or something like that.

Except that pidgin isn't written in Java.
I actually tried to write one back when it was called Gaim, but gave up because of the total lack of documentation. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

I've given some thought to making a plugin for Miranda for such a thing, but considering the number of options for chatting in SS, it's not on the top of my list.
There are also a number of issues to work out with such a plugin. How would the "buddy list" check for the state of others? How would chats be integrated/separated? Do you separate out team/freq/pub chats or would you handle them exactly how they are in SS?
I suppose you could always set it up like the IRC modules are for Miranda, but considering how SS itself is structured, a lot of the functionality would be have to be clumsily implemented simply due to the lack of support.
