Well, I am a newb at the whole biller thing. Got the zone set up and everything, just curious about the biller. I am not really making a zone, I just want to learn about the biller, maybe host in the near future. I have searched on these forums for something that would help me but didn't find anything.
Anyways, can anyone show me a site or documentation or something on how to set the biller up and make it good and running.
Thanks. |

There are two main billers for subgame:
- subbill
- Catid's SubSpace Billing Server
The first comes with the standard server package but is not recommended for use since it uses your CPU for 100% when used. It also doesn't feature a ban(g) feature.
The second one is recommended but has its quirks but works quite well once you get the hang of it. It features a ban system, chat system with owning capabilities (but disallows staff chats) and a few more that I can't name right now. _________________

Thanks Mav, but I already downloaded it. I am just not sure what to do from there. Do I start Catid's biller and then Subgame and it should work? Or do I have to mess with the INI, etc. |

You should always scan through the ini and check the settings if you should modify it. There are certainly a few settings that need to be changed. For example the IP/Port and biller password (that need to be the same as the one in your server.ini).
Once you are sure you got everything done right you can try to run the SSBilling2.exe first and then subgame.
You will probably run into an error message at the subgame console. Do a search on this forum and the wiki for the error message to see how to fix it.
Good luck |

Alright, well it says it is connected, but I'm getting a debug error.
Run-time check failure #2 - stack around the variable 'buffer' was corrupted.
It is talking about the SSBilling2.exe
It says press retry to debug it. I do that and then it doesn't work.
This is when I try to enter the zone. |

That's odd, I never got such a problem.
What operating system do you have? XP/2003 ?
Are you sure you extracted SSBilling2.exe and the subbill.ini ?
If you checked all that then it is probably a problem with a subgame .dll or a windows .dll :/
Maybe someone else here knows the fix. |

This may be becuase your running from the same network. I've heard of it crashing like that. Try getting a friend to login or go somewhere else to do it. It has never done that to me. |

Just do as it says, enter any zone on the network with the VIE client.
You don't need to, though. _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. Cyan~Fire assumes no responsibility for any loss or delay resulting from such use.

I only see that message when I do ?man ?
Anyhow, you can ignore it, it isn't important.
You can disable it by editing the biller (code-wise) and recompiling it. |

It's not some artificial limit that catid put into his biller. It's a real limit that commands such as ?details won't work because the biller has no clue about your name or email if you haven't sent in a reg form. |

Yeah, I seen that ?details don't work. Is there any other ones that won't work? No other way to fix it than editing it? |

There are other problems... like ?info doesn't work in AS3 zones, because it's an AS3 command. I assume ?alias wouldn't work if you had the alias module loaded. But those are just AS3 conflictions. Hopefully, Doc will finish his biller soon, and all AS3 zones can just use SkyBill. |

I looked through the source, and I think details is the only one that won't work at all. Others (alias, etc.) are limited slightly. |
