Also, the creators (or so I assume, not caring overly much) can't even get it right:

Not really.
Just the Japanese to English translators are people who don't game, know jack shit about the game and characters and ussually are not native either English or Japanese speakers, hence the mix up in the DC title.
Everyone else are not retarded, everyone else know that K' is a cut of Kyo, but not really Kyo, and I won't get into that part since it's a matter of the storyline which you could care shit about.
And anyway...who give a shit what puny you have to say?
