Is there any better internet secutity prog's out there today you would recomend? |

Having 2 anti-viruses is as good as having none. They will conflict.

ZoneAlarm is an anti-virus. |

Which constantly bugs you about meaningless registration for new updates and won't leave you the fuck alone.

I do not recommend Panda Anti-Virus, take it from someone who knows. _________________ Haha SpecShip |

ZoneAlarm is nice, but it's kinda pointless if you have a hardware firewall like a router. Sure, it's nice to check outgoing connections, but I take care of those with spyware checkers. _________________ This help is informational only. A hardware firewall doesn't have a clue what aps are trying to connect out. It's not enough to "allow port 80" when you don't know what apps may try to use it. |

Spybot S&D is nice.

Spyware checkers aren't enough. There are legitimate apps that connect out that I don't want connecting out. With ZA I can allow/deny on a per-instance basis. |

Like Windows Media Player (which I use for mms streams).

Yeah, tell me to use another MP, I won't though.

The only MP with a good implementation of that protocol with a bunch of nice audio features is Windows Media Player.

It keeps checking for updates though, which I dislike (it can't be turned off).

I blocked the updating process.

Also, instead of filtering website content, you could just block their host.

I hate danasoft.com, for example, with their crappy spyware signatures.

I exactly get what Ek means. My hardware firewall and my Linux box are nice for authorizing traffic on a low level (IP), but for stuff like this I prefer application-level. |

Well, I'm not saying that there's no reason for it at all, but I guess I'd just rather not have some daemon running all the time. I use about 128MB of my 256MB of RAM normally, and I like to keep it that way.

And I use MP occasionally, but version 6 or something before it got obtrusive. And I actually thought you recommended MPC on this board somewhere. |

				I use BullGuard

A/V (Updated 4 or 5 times a day)

F/W

Spam Filter

BackUp

And it is all in one. Never had problems with it ever and it's kept my system secure for the year and 2 months I've used it. |

				I use:

ZoneAlarm, The Cleaner, ProcessGuard, Annonymizer, eSafe internal software firewall, checkpoint router hardware+software firewall, etc. measures.

All liscenced - full software.

Used to have norton AV, but it kept having problems and misperforming.

ZA's firewall/AV system seem to function better. _________________ Replacing yazour untill the whore returns.

				| Did you all know that ZoneAlarm connects back directly to ZoneLabs to do reverse DNS for every IP it is resolving, and that ZoneLabs records and SELLS this info? I have all the host names they use for this blocked in my hosts file. :/ |
