Hi there! I'm considering in making a BOT for subspace. I've found a file at catid (http://catid.sscentral.com/files/addendum.txt) with some descriptions, but the last update is dated 7/26/02.
Does anyone know of a newer doc?

Thanks
- Sergio

The subspace protocol hasn't changed a bit since that time. Now, continuum has added a few continuum-only packets, and uses its own encryption. For the continuum-only packets, they should be easily to figure out, or can ask some other people later what a certain packet type is/does. For the encryption, you'll have to use VIE's. Continuum's encryption is for continuum only.

truly, the best documentation is the source code for MERV or a similar bot (I assume LogicBot has reasonably understandable code). Dl the MERV bot src from catid's site, and take a look at the cpp's

PS: Unless you really want to write your own core from the ground up... i truly recommend you write plugins for a respectable (and already working) SS Bot.

What I really wanted to do is build a core with GCC that runs (compiles) in both windows and Linux... But i'm having some trouble in using DJGPP with my Win2K and XP. Only 98 is working, but that's another issue...

From That I tougth something about adding support from the existing DLLs from existing bots (like MERV).
That's all future... I'm just looking for something to do in the winter (besides playing)...

DJGPP with XP

Random thought: I think DJGPP is a DOS compiler and XP doesn't have DOS, right?

DJGPP is a port of GNU GCC for dos/windows... It can compile windows binaries and stuff... That's a lot you can do with DJGPP, but, since I'm only wanting to make a bot (with a text interface), it isn't a big issue. I'll try (later) to run it with bash (for windows too).

Make sure you have it support angled tiles and such, since thats the future of SS. Problem is, no good map editor is out there that priitk could just easily fix up to support new lvl formats.

Plus also means the death of the VIE client.

Ok. You won... As of the other weekend I'll be starting... And I'll bother all of you in here for beta testing and suggestions...
And, for a start: Where can I find some docs? (-;

Now there will a milestone... to mark newbieness if anything. Of course, given the average rate of progress by our one-man-wonder-team dev, angled tiles, and the features there implied, will probably come into existence just as UT supports neural brainwave peripherals...
