My current HD is 27.7 gigs, and is almost all full. I was planning to go buy a new Harddrive and was wondering which kind. I have heard Internal HD give lots of problems when using, and External is only good for storing stuff, and can't run applics. I was wondering on what you guys would recomend

The harddrive you are using, the 27.7 gigabyte harddrive is an internal harddrive. Has it given you any problems since you got it? I'd prefer an internal harddrive, only because it takes up no space.

There are two advantages to externals. The first is that it's easy to move between computers. The second is that it's easy to hook up to the computer.

If you aren't going to be moving it between computers, or don't need super easy installation, then get an internal.

An internal would be your best bet. They are generally cheaper for more hard drive space. It's also not hard at all to install it. Just pop it in, insert two screws to hold it in place (maybe 4, depends on the case) and then set it to slave or master and plugin the cable. Voila. Piece of cake.

I heard having 2 harddrives causes alot of more problems i.e system crashes etc... And I assume a External would go slow transfering between files as well

It might cause system crashes. When I had 2 hard drives in my computers, they kept on messing up. I don't know if that was because of the hard drives, or if it was because of the computer itself.

Not at all.

It can run programs off of it, yes, BUT it'll never be as fast as an internal HDD. I wouldn't recommend storing games on it.

Personally, I'd say go with an internal. They're cheaper, faster, more reliable, and not exactly hard to install. I wouldn't let my great grandomther install one, but just about anyone else that can work a screwdriver should be able to do it.

I plan to buy this HDD, Western Digital Internal Hard Drive (WD2500JDRTL) , from :
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Western-Digital-Internal-Hard-Drive-WD2500JDRTL-/sem/rpsm/oid/89830/catOid/-12976/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

Any suggestions on this or something better of near same value?

Why would I want to partition a hard drive that I want to use as storage Donkano? The only thing I did was format it, and that's all you really need to do.

I just bought an external 40gb USB Seagate. I only planned on using it for storage, plus, I'm on a laptop, and it's kinda hard to put a secondary hd in here. However, it will be nice to beable to clear up some gb's worth of music on my main hd, and, it has a pretty blue light. I didn't even know it came with a blue light, but if I did, I would have bought it that much faster. Blue lights rock.

Xter, you basically answered yourself in the very first post you made.

Also, get both.
Or burn CDs for storage.
Although CDs are less reliable, of course.

Where the hell do you get your information from?! I've got 2 internal harddrives, and they haven't caused me a single crash.

I <3 my 250GB Maxtor OneTouch II external hard drive. It's USB2 so speed isn't really an issue.
