I got my zone up and running, it just won't appear in the SS directory. I've gotten others to join in to play in it, but it won't appear on the list of zones when you click download. What am I doing wrong?

perhaps it's already on your zone's list. It won't come up again if it's already on your list.

I took it off of my list, and then I clicked on Download, under the Zones tab in continuum, and didn't find it. Because I want other people to join it, but they won't see it when they click download.

Post the content of your server.ini and subbill.ini.

Post the console outputs, read this if you don't know how:

To copy the text from a console:
Right-click on the console -> select -> [select the text you want to copy by dragging the cursor over the console while having the left mouse button down] -> hit the Enter key on your keyboard; after doing this the selected text is on your clipboard and can be used for pasting.

I'll help you getting rid of any mistakes you've made in your ini files, there are a few things you could've done wrong which can cause your problem.

Directory:IP's string in your server.ini is invalid, directory server names have to be seperated by a ',', so the correct value would be something like "sscentral.sscuservers.net,sscentral.subspacehq.com,sscentral.subspace.net".

That's what he should do to be able to enter, probably, but it doesn't fix anyhing.

I did all of that, I opened the port, and yes, I can enter it, all my bots can, my friends can, but they have to do the Add custom button.

In server.ini, you put ServerIP=24.230.63.140, are you sure that is correct?

Check if your friends have matching directory servers they request zone entries from.
Make sure subgame can connect to the servers, make sure your firewall and/or router is/aren't blocking connect attempts to remote hosts on port 4991.

Open subgame's listening port + 1.

So if you're running on 1521 then open 1522.

(I just noticed I didn't read correctly, my suggestion is if your zone in the list appears red.)

Ok, I just opened up port 4991-4992. And right now, I can't download anything from SS central. I click Zones, the Download, and its says that there isnt a connection. yet, I can play on the zones that i have already downloaded. What can I do to fix that, while we are at it. lol

I think, if you keep having trouble, start with fresh and original files from http://shanky.com/server/, then only make necessary changes.
If nothing of what was suggested in this thread helps then I'd think it's a networking problem (you can't reach the hosts, connections to external hosts on port 4991 are being blocked by your router or ISP, whatever).
Or the directory servers you're sending your zone info to do not exist, just check every possibility.

i just tryed to update my zone list.... could not connect to any of the servers that contain the list... perhaps that is the problem

Well, at least im not the only one who couldnt update their zone list. I even opend the 4991 port. but I couldn't check to see if that did it.

You shouldn't open port 4991 for incoming connections, that'd be useless.

Well, then the directory servers are your problem, try checking which are up by pinging them or something.
Make sure you have a few working ones, and make sure your friends have some matching servers.
