Is there a way to convert a .lvl file to a image file(.bmp, .gif, .jpg, .png, etc , etc). I'm sure there probably has to be some guy who thought "hey, i would like to make an image file out of the .lvl so the people playing can have a full map out of the area".
hopefully some one here can help.

Yes, there is a program called FACTs, you can grab it off of ssdownloads.com --
http://ssdownloads.com/index.php?act=file&fid=173
then click the 'deconvert' - and it'll create a 1024x1024 BMP file of your map.

Please, after you make it into a bmp, convert it to gif or png afterwards. Greatly reduces the size.

You can write your own LVL to IMG convertor. I attached the full file-format-information.

When I use the RipBMP thing, it just displays the tileset, not a radar view. Wouldn't it be easier to open the .lvl with MSPaint if all you wanted was the tileset?

Oh, i thought it you meant convert a LVL to Image (ripping tileset), nevermind, but the LVL to BMP (like FACTS does) it's easy no problem.

Use FACTs and convert an lvl into a bmp. It will create a -t and -m version. The -t is the tileset. The -m is the map. The map one is large, in a bmp format. Convert it to either gif or png, and watch the size shrink to like ~20k.

Except, it doesn't look like the original map. It just has colors for specific tiles. _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. Cyan, if you had the full map it would take a while to go through all the printouts before you can say over teamspeak 'it's on page 5 near the bottom right'.
And why is Mine GO BOOM signing his posts with '-nintendo64'?

Just making fun of people who have to sign their posts, even though if you look directly to the left of their post, it says their name.

I had old behaviour of horrible grammar, but I'm working on correcting it. I also used to do text-smilies and other annoy online chat symbols, and I've worked on that well enough in which I don't use them pointlessly anymore.
