powerbots are close-source, even the code to make plugins. The Junky handles who gets the code, but if he doesnt know you then you need to get approval from a sysop of a zone that uses it. Mervbot is by far better in every way than powerbot, powerbots crash quite a bit and you need to call out the army to get anyone to resart the damn thing. If anyone has any of its code, sent it along, I want to be able to program for a SSCX zone. |

I was thinking of a way to like actually make movies using the bot; like right now which is a reallllly lame of doing it is -> each second: record every player, their bty, ship type, etc... and then make an inturpretor...
but thats gonna be a pain in the butt since.. well i need to record all the weapons, repels, ... then there's the issues of the map itself.. Meehh lol
i dunno i just thought he had made a code/plugin that did something like that |

Errr yeah that's really almost impossible to do with a bot. _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. Cyan~Fire assumes no responsibility for any loss or delay resulting from such use.

bots are not sitting in subspace, seeing the screen like you do. Its connected to the server and dealing with only certain packets of info. The graphics are unneeded and not part of what a bot is. Thus, no it can not do anything that requires graphics. You dont need a bot to take a lot of screenshots anyway, get a heavy object and place it on top of your print screen button. |

Ekted's bot core is actually very stable. But the hassel of having to debug your bots via uploading a dll, and then running it remotely is a pain. The crashing is due to other's programming skills, which is why Ekted likes to run atleast two of his cores. One is a debugging one, in which people crash all the time. The second one is a stable one, in which only dlls he approves of run on. The stable ones rarely crash, as well-coded bots run on that. The unstable one dies a lot, because of bad coding.
Ekted also likes to keep his code private, and those who do code for him respect that, as do I, so its doubtful you'll see his headers or example code. Plus, its not needed, as was mentioned earlier, you'll find Mervbot a lot easier, as you can also debug it locally. |

I respect closed source, but there are about 3 bot programmers in the power-bot field that are majorly overworked and nothing gets done. Ive been told to never start 3 bots of the same type in one arena, or the server will crash. That doesnt sound too stable. I know ekted has got skillz, but I have never seen a powerbot do anything that is remotly as leet as mervbot can do |

that's possible, it just depends on how you define "bot"
a lot of people seem to think it's only a bot if it's like MERV
but I say if it's connected to the game and isn't a real person, it's a bot
so you could just setup something that handles like hypercam and a client and record it all |

For the SSVCR thing you just need to store every packet as it comes and the time it arrived, then play it back through a client or a custom made program. You can use a proxy to capture and playback the packets.
This has the same problems as direct screen capture in that you only get sent packets within a certain radius of what you can see. Fx, you are at the bottom of the map and someone near the top of the map flies left, you wouldn't know. AFAIK SSVCR just follows the ball as that's where all the action is in hockey/pb.
50% Packetloss wrote: | Ive been told to never start 3 bots of the same type in one arena, or the server will crash. | Is this with any bot a specific one? I think you can run unlimited merv's local to the server, but connecting remotely will packet flood the server and/or bot host (something like that). |

Actualy Powerbot is pretty l33t.
Understandable that you can only do so much to a core.
The only reason those dll's crash is because of the programmers skill. I myself have tested the limits of the core and it actualy does well with alot of operations. Everything runs smoothly. As for the core it is being constantly updated and no we can't release any header. Maybe become staff in an sscx zone or in Extreme Games and you might get a peak. |

this sounds farfetched but catid once made a bot that could display graphics (yes i know cuz i tested it! look in file) if u download this rare file that catid has abandoned u might be able to make it it take movies or what ever you want
ftp://fuzzserver.servegame.com/ssbot2.zip my webserver not very stable
or
http://home.iprimus.com.au/agilbert/ssbot2.zip try this, my ISP's webserver
its a rare file and this is most likey the last remaining copy of it (unless otherwise). look in the latest screenshot file and my name is in it! _________________ Owner of CSAU Administration

The bot seems to be some type of a simple AI bot that catid made a long time ago. A lot of the source code found in it is also in merv. It seems to use a subspace client to get into a zone.
Dead knows what he is talking about fuzz, he has quite a few powerbot plugins floating around. |

The bot i posted could do. It would take some time to actually get it to work but you would be able to take movies. |

if you're going to do that, you may as well start with a more recent, better bot core |

Asss has had a record module that can record and play back stuff for some time, although I haven't tried it yet. Asss also has a ?command to request all position packets so a bot/proxy can log all the packets for playing back later (otherwise as I said before, you only see part of the action). |
