go get the lvz builder, and read the example, it tells you all about it _________________ "In fact, about the only reasonable holiday is 4th of July (US). We celebrate something that actually happened by blowing shit up."

you need sysop powers to fully accomplish the following...
download lvztoolkit
extract contents
open up text editor (notepad,wordpad,textpad,etc)
type in the following:
Quote: | outfile=nameOfYourChoice.lvz
file=nameOfYourImage.jpg
[objectimages]
image0=nameOfYourImage.jpg
[screenobjects]
c-x,e25,image0,aftergauges,enterzone,1500,0 |
save this file as nameOfYourChoice.ini (after you replace x)
x = half the width of your image in pixels (eg. if your image is 300 pixels wide, x = 150 and you would type in "c-150")
nameOfYourChoice = any name you like
nameOfYourImage = the name of your image
zone, which makes the image appear only in public arenas directly after a player enters the ZONE, can be exchanged for arena, which makes the image appear in any arena directly after a player enters the ARENA
so now you have a .ini file and an image
make sure the file extension of your jpeg is ".jpg"
make sure your .jpg image and your .ini file are in the SAME directory (folder)
now run BuildLevel.exe (came in lvztoolkit) - a browse-for-file box will open, find and select your .ini file
this should create a .lvz file in the same directory as your .ini and .jpg files (if there are no errors)
now place your new .lvz file into your main Continuum directory (eg. C:\Program Files\Continuum)
go into your zone (the one you have sysop powers in)
type "*getfile server.cfg" (it will download to your main Continuum directory)
(server.cfg = public arena settings file >> if you want to use this .lvz-included image in another arena, get the settings file for THAT arena [eg. ?go duel would typically use "duel.cfg", though it may use "server.cfg" or "spawn.cfg" - I recommend ArenaMode=5 in the [Custom] section of your server.ini)
open server.cfg (or whatever .cfg file you're fiddling with) in a text editor (notepad, wordpad, textpad, etc)
find and alter (or ADD) the setting "levelfiles=nameOfYourChoice.lvz" in the [misc] section of the .cfg file
save changes
go into your zone (the one you have sysop powers in)
type "*putfile nameOfYourChoice.lvz"
type "*putfile server.cfg" (or whatever .cfg file)
now enter (or re-enter) your zone (or arena) and you should download and see your image
-------
any more questions, just post

Speaking of which, I got an image that I need the coding for it to go down the screen slowly as it swivvles side to side. I attached the image and I was just wondering if someone would have the time to do the coding for me. Thanks.

you'd have to have a bot or module spamming objset or objon/off commands constantly to "code" that
you'll probably have to tweak the image and then just have it cover the entire screen

Just go to 'xmas' in TW and use their snowflakes. Next time don't distribute image files in .bmp format (unless you convert it to 1bpp/monochrome).

i think its about time some one made a really detailed guide for lvz creation. People keep asking questions that are so much the same. _________________ Owner of CSAU Administration

if I get bored enough I'll try and type up a full version to replace Mine's old Buildlevel/Makelevel FAQ info...and maybe a How To...probably just one or the other, though

You said the 'levelfiles=' in [misc] in the .cfg file right? Well I did a Edit/Find and did a search for 'levelfiles=' but its no where in sight... Is it under a different name?

I spent most of my time decompiling the .lvz format instead of figuring out ways to help people use it. Though if you do feel like making a How To for it, I'd be more than willing to assist in it.

ya I didn't mean to imply anything particular about you (in fact I've always thought whatever status I've acheived as a helper is more due to the huge excess of free time I have and less to actual knowledge)
I'll give you a PM if I run into any bumps.

well it could be any number of things
while I have made mistakes before, I'm pretty sure those set of instructions up there are virtually flawless
you uploaded .lvz file?
perhaps you should attach your .lvz to a post here so we can inspect it

that looks good, too
just make sure you've uploaded (*putfile Trigun.lvz [with Trigun.lvz in your main Continuum directory]) to server
and that you're using latest lvztoolkit.zip

Make sure you are using a recent server version as the one off the CD doesn't support levelfiles (I never tried this so I may be wrong).

Well, I was messing around and I went to test my .lvz so I entered my zone, then went to my subarena but a popup came up saying:
Not enough memory
And it closes out of Continuum.exe....
OH boy, what did I do now? >_<
