Microsoft is offering Free* Visual Basic .NET to anyone. The "free" part means you have to review 5 shot clips.

I just went through and abused it, by using a random spam email account and rating 5 movies I didn't even look at. I got the email within 5 minutes.

I never have, nor will, use Visual Basic, but its always nice to have the software on hand if others want it.

If you happen to not notice, .NET does not mean C#. C# is its own language, which is often refered to as .NET all to often. They just happen to want to label this generation of software .NET to coincide with their new online password management features.

This offer is for the Visual Basic software, which you code Visual Basic in. The .NET at the end is just its version, like calling it Visual Basic 14.3.

Sadly, yes. Microsoft doesn't make a good deal about keeping whats really their .NET thing, and whats just using it as a version identifier, like XP is for Windows.
