why not have multiple passwords for mods and sysops? one for each. all in the ini, but only the sysops can see them.

How about this idea: powers won't require passwords. You use your own password, is verified by the billing, and then the server auto-applies certain powers to you pre-assigned via a staff.conf file. Each person can have certain special abilities assigned to them, not just a global sysop/smod/mod idea. Then all you would have to worry about would be them losing their name's password.

If grel isn't he should be. A similar authentication scheme will be built into the athena biller when passwords are secure.

Also see ?grplogin, it's the same as what MGB and reel bad said except you don't have to be on the list, you enter the group and the password as parameters.
