Probably build number, and maybe something to do with a timestamp probably. Usually people will do the 1.X.X Build #, not this method.

man i'm on dsl fuck 10$ for a piece of shit that just wastes 30+ mb of space they act like .net is somethin special...it's like mfc...just another way for microsoft to try to dominate by making things easier

D1st0rt wrote:

no i'm not a hater...microsoft just needs to stop with their trying to dominate, personally i'd rather write 100 lines of code to make somethin that .NET or MFC can do in 1-10 lines because MFC and .NET are for people who don't want to learn the way it should be done

.NET is not like MFC. .NET is a whole new set of functions and utilities. MFC is a object-oriented wrapper of the Windows API. Different functions, different languages.

.NET is actually a pretty nice invention, you can do a lot with it. I personally don't like it because of it's windows-centricness.

i didn't mean they were similar i meant microsoft made both to try to dominate the market even more

Hrm, what if Continuum 0.39 comes out as requiring .NET? I think a lot of players will be lost.

sidenote: a group of individual's have wrote a .NET port to linux, so .NET will be able to be used on that platform. I forget what it's called but .. yeah sa_tongue.gif

There is also .gnu, but I know nothing about it or Mono.

You can't really blame MS for trying to dominiate the market. MFC was actually not an attempt to dominate, just an attempt to 'upgrade' their object-orientation support. I consider it a downgrade though, lol. And .NET is, like I said, pretty useful if you don't care too much about other OSes.

biggrin.gif Like OMG finally. I hope this mean that I can finally build more complex level much easier. One of the things I am trying to do is, Because I am a bid DSB fan, and make a new, Super DSB Map, but I have be running into limitation with the current tile set. The solution is to add the additional tiles as background images. But there lies the problem. Any one ever that has ever had to add background images knows what I am talking about. To make matters worse since the map is in development, I need to move stuff around fairly frequently. Keep up the good work, hope to see a full functioning version soon.

Cool to see someone else doing this. I've also been developing a lvl/lvz editor in java (sux for distribution for newbies) however hopefully some people can use it.

It currently has pretty much full lvl support and some lvz support working.

Java doesn't suck for distribution, it sucks in general.

Java is like a vehicle that can run on train tracks, drive on roads, fly, 'swim', and sail. You think it's going to do any of those effeciently or even well? Nuh uh.

But nice going, craigg!
SuSE - Thu Apr 22, 2004 7:19 pm

the cool thing about java is that it'll work on any OS
the thing about SubSpace/Continuum is that'll only work on Windows

but, hey, maybe someone'll get that Linux version out eventually and there'll be some Linux mapping apps, too

oh and 2d, keep me in mind for testing? sa_tongue.gif

CypherJF - Wed Jul 21, 2004 10:07 pm
Post subject:
Lets stop from going off track. The Next version of SS comes out: will probably be never. As BDE owns Subspace.

Continuum however, I am about 99.999999999999999999999->infinity% sure, it will never use .NET.

However, if I understood or am remembering right, this app is done in vb6; so no .NET here either.

Anyway isn't visual studio 7/2003 using .NET? I think that's the package that comes with vb, vc, etc, right?
