Trash Talk - my new subspace client

Post subject: my new subspace client
Hello all.

I just completed my new continuum client. It has alot of features that the current one does and I've been working on it for days! I just need to fix a few (hundred) bugs and it should be fine (but only after i implimint what i am asking today). I decided to code it as fast as possible then fix bugs later. I learned this way was the best because you could pump out code very fast then spend time only on fixing bugs. I agreed with it very much because of my old ways took too much time fixing and less time coding.

I just need to know the subspace protocal info. I already have subspace encripion figured out, but I need the game info to pass to my client in order for it to talk to the continuum servers on the other end.

Thank you all for your help.

ps: the client was so EZ! I don't know why no one else has never made one b4.

Hi everyone! My name is Mr Ekted. I just finished writing the ultimate Subspace client/server/biller/map editor ever conceived, and I will be releasing it tomorrow. I just have a few questions...

- What is Subspace?
- What is a client?
- Where do I get source files from?
- How do I compile?
- What does compile mean anyway?
- What are bugs, and how do I create them?
- I can't seem to find the Internet.

Here Mr Ekted. Let me help you!
Quote:
- What is Subspace?

Subspace is a 2d space shooter game developed orignially by VIE. It has been recoded by Priitk and is now called Continuum. The latest version released to the public is .39 pr1.

Quote:
- What is a client?

A client allows you to connect to the servers hosting the game. Subspace and Continuum are both clients.

Quote:
- Where do I get source files from?

Source files are documents which contain the source of a program. You can either create them yourself or download pre made scripts or libraries.

Quote:
- How do I compile?

In most compilers there is a menu option to compile.

Quote:
- What does compile mean anyway?

You can fine the definition of compile at http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=compile

Quote:
- What are bugs, and how do I create them?

Bugs are errors in the code which produce unwanted effects. You create them by bad coding or coding incorrectly.

Quote:
- I can't seem to find the Internet.

You can find the internet at www.internet.com/

I hope I have helped you Ekted. I wish you luck in future programming.

Update on client: 15 more bugs fixed. One new feature.

It was moved only because it didn't relate to questions on running a Subspace server. This forum, usually called Trash Talk, is for anything, and is a fail-safe if you don't know where is the correct place to post.

rmf wrote:

I hope you know he was joking. Ever look at the Help->About dialog in Continuum? If you never did, I'll help you out with a screen shot. Notice some of the names listed there.

If you don't understand why some of these people are being harsh, its because in the past couple of months, a few other people have stated that they are making a new client/encryption/mapeditor, and have never followed through with it. And those that have attempted, have criticised those attempting to actually help them. So a few of those that are knowledgable with the workings of Subspace and other fields of computers have stopped attempting to help others.

If you want to set yourself apart from those before you, do attempt to be open minded when others state some information. Ekted is a very knowledgable person, and can help you greatly (he has given me many points in the past) if you show potential.

Best of luck to you.

Are you sure? If you really knew he was joking then why did you seriously answer his questions?

If you really created some client, which is pretty hard to believe, you should show something here before bragging about it.
Also, if you really started a client project you obviously didn't prepare your project, you just started making something without even knowing what you were doing!?

Please don't get "Qndre style" but learn before you do anything. icon_sad.gif

I wouldn't have said I was sure unless I was sure. Maybe I seriously answered his questions just because he was joking?

I am not bragging. I asked a QUESTION and it still has not been answered (except one person which didn't help).

Is this a statement or a question?

I don't think it can be client if you haven't got the protocol yet. I would call it a game engine or something.
Can't we see a screenshot? SS had local.lvl, I'm sure you have something similar, how else could you test out the map, flag and soccer games?

No one but Priitk and Grel have the actual continuum encryption; so you can't say it's a continuum client. But, that's another case.

If anyone is going to make a client, your better off working w/ Grel and ASSS; being it seems that priit isn't too interested in releasing the source, and/or updating the client. *bummers*..

Keep up the work w/ the client though...
Cyan~Fire - Tue Jun 29, 2004 7:05 pm

Grel doesn't have the encryption, he just has a way of making Continuum connect using VIE encryption.

LOL that's an interesting comment biggrin.gif "<name> is a troll. Stop feeling him." ..

Well in either case, is grel does or doesn't have it; no normal player will ever get the encryption; if you claim to have 'cracked' it then priit will just change it.

@CypherJF
Um, 'feeding' perhaps? What is with all the w/?

It's not necessary to work with the original developer to make a clone client. Do you think the VIE team slipped PriitK pieces of code?

@Cyan~Fire
If that is the case why is the module closed source then? MGB said he knew how to do that too.

I read on SFN (i.e. what follows is probably lies), that servers don't actually need all of the ctm enc code, just some table or something to decrypt the packets. But that doesn't explain how the server re-encrypts the packets for forwarding to other clients. (This came about when I asked why security.dll couldn't be hotwired for use in a bot).

I definitely think this is a scam, possibly someone that read all the pages in the Qndre threads trying to get revenge for wasting good reading time.

Edit: Hmm, I didn't notice page 2.
Edit2: edit wars!!

Can't find the post now but I'm pretty sure MGB or Ekted said what I said. I can't imagine Priit would give out the Continuum encryption to anybody at all, or he would have shared it with Ekted or something. I believe it's closed source because it contains other top-secret information to give the server the ability to act just like a Continuum-encryted server.

Anti-Qndreness disclaimer: This is what I believe, I am not claiming it as fact. (Although the Continuum encryption is a really simple XOR with 11111111. MUAHAHAHA)

Yeah, its a bit of a hack that Grelminar had to use originally. I don't know if the 0.39 series lets it work that way anymore, but I'd guess it would.

And no, you can't just force a VIE encryption responce to get it to work. It was some fucked up weird key/id thing.

That Prt Scr button means Print Screen. It will either take a screen shot in games (if the game supports that), or in Windows, will copy everything on the screen into your clipboard. If you want to only copy a certain program, have that window be in the foreground (selected in task bar), and use Alt+Prt Scr to only take a copy of that window.
