Post subject: Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster WRT54GS
I'm using Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster WRT54GS
Firmwire Version 1.50.6
I have 2 computers connecting to the main hub.

Well I created a zone but, hell it doesn't even show up in my list to
be downloaded & when it does it shoes up in red.

I've read everything posted on the forums and its just confusing as hell
can someone PLEASE help me.

Make sure you forwarded your zone port and your zone port + 1 (UDP).

So for zone port 300 forward 300 and 301. Make sure Windows Firewall is also forwarded if you have it.

Leave the last port (close to the description of the zone) at 4991. That HAS to be that port or it won't show up.

The reason for it being red is a port forward issue.
Santino - Thu Jun 21, 2007 11:15 pm
Post subject:
Well, I didnt change the directory port; it is still 4991
My port I used was 9200

So I forwarded it

Start - 9200 - End 9300 IP adress I put 100 then enabled it

then i went to windows firewall put both ports ( 9200 and 9300)
UDP for exceptions..

its just confusing as hell i dont know why it dont work

So when does it and when doesn't it?

Post subject:
Well it used to show up in my list when I had a router, which then it would show up in RED. When I would enable the ports it still wouldnt let me connect.

Now I switched over to the Wireless modem.. It doesnt show up in my list

Why did you forward 9200 and 9300? Only forward 9200 and 9201.
Unless you have more than one zone.

Try adding a custom zone with same port, but IP 127.0.0.1. Tell us if you can connect with that.
Santino - Fri Jun 22, 2007 9:12 pm
Post subject:
Okay it shows up in green! W00T. But on the subgame2 it says Cilent request to connect to the billing server ignored.
Why is that?

The subgame2 console says 'Client connection request from billing server ignored'

You need to change the Billing:IP in server.ini to localhost instead of 127.0.0.1.

Ok that makes sense now I can enter it, thanks alot guys

but see it doesnt show up on the zone list now? how do I make it so people can join it?

Make sure the port around the description is 4991 (The default one that was there towards the end of the file.)

You could add this to the end of your lists of directories, sscentral.sscuservers.net

On my ASSS zones if I change the name password it won't work. Make sure you are using the right password. Add/remove something from the name and try again and see if it comes up.

Gah this is confusing as shit now, ever since i added sscentral.sscuservers.net to the end of the directories.. it just shows up as red..
BDwinsAlt - Sat Jun 23, 2007 7:40 pm
Post subject:
Maybe you added it wrong? Maybe copy and paste that line from an old one?
It shouldn't be hard. Most of them appear online right when they click on subgame. You could technically just run it as it is by default and it would appear. I don't know what went on that screwed it up. You can see it without even port forwarding.

I just copied and pasted parts from the ini that I think would be the cause of the problems... now before I add
sscentral.sscuservers.net
at the end of my directory I am able to login from localhost 127.0.0.1.
but it doesnt show up on the list.. i have to customly add it. then i can login and do w/e but people cant see it on the list.. well when i do add
sscentral.sscuservers.net
to the end of the directory it shows up on the list; but then its in red and i cant log in.

First try to use these. Make sure to use your custom zone entry.

Only when this works, start tweaking other settings.

Ok but see I didn't edit my Server Ini, I copied and pasted parts from the original Server ini onto the forums, yes the zone is up and running but I'M the only one who can download it / get on it..

It doesnt show up in the list to be downloaded.. when I add those two directory servers that BDwinsAlt showed me.. it will show up on the list but it is red. and I cannot enter it.

That's fine. Since you are running the server locally you must enter through a custom zone entry, use the "add custom" button and 127.0.0.1 for the IP. Be sure to name the custom zone differently so when you next update the zone list the IP doesn't get overwritten.

No because I triple checked it.. I added the port to port forwarding it and its still shows up on the list but ppl cant join it
i have to customly add it with the IP 127.0.0.1. to join it.

the zone from the D/L list which ppl cant join uses my orig IP

You just described a port forwarding issue. That's really all it could be. Make sure it uses UDP and not TCP, and make sure that windows firewall is forwarded also. There are guides to doing this on the forums. I highly doubt this, but your isp could be blocking the port you are using. Some don't want you running servers so they block certain ports (like 8000 for internet radio).

Ok WRT54GS is a LINKSYS router. The stickie in this section of the forum will help you with Linksys and Network Everywhere routers. Its called Hope for Linksys Routers... Scrolling down and reading it you would see that Linksys and NWE use a feature called Block WAN Request, Number 5 on the list
Hope for Linksys Routers by wEaViL wrote:
5. Now click on the advanced tab. This will put you on the Filters page. Scroll down to the bottom and look for a item called Block WAN requeast Make sure it is disabled. If it is not then the router will not forward anything to the comp running the server.

I'm willing to bet you haven't done that.

That doesn't affect my router. It can be enable or disabled and still work. Maybe they didn't perfect that feature on mine. I have a LinkSys BEFSR41.

Thats the same router I wrote that tut using and it was the reason the zone wouldn't come up green at all. Your lucky it works seeing as some programs need WAN info to access your comp.

Might of been auto disabled on the new update, dunno for sure. When I updated mine it still didn't work untill I called Linksys and they expalined the Block Wan Request feature to me.

There are only two options on there (Enable and Disable). It shoudln't be hard. Why wouldn't someone want to allow wan connections?

It is there for a quick switch to turn the firewall on/off.

I thought I'd post here instead of creating a new thread, and I'm having the same problem.

My Wireless Router is D-Link WBR-1310, and I also have Efficient SpeedStream 5200 ADSL modem.
My ASSS zone uses port 11000, so I set the start port to 11000 and the end port to 11001. Traffic type is set to "any" (I figure though it should use UDP). And saved the settings, and still nothing.

I don't know if I'm suppose to or not, but I went in 'application rules' (an option to open single or multiple ports in your firewall...), and tried the same thing. But still no dice.

The one thing to note is I can't set the "ip address" in the port forwarding section to 127.0.0.1 (so I set it to what IP it says my computer uses, but also did the same for the ip Continuum says I use). And I still can't get it to show up on the Directory List. My zone is configured fine, but I can only get to it by manually typing 127.0.0.1 + name + port#)

I also run no firewalls, and am using windows XP media center edition. There's no "block WAN request" feature either. -- And yes, my directories are updated, and the zone might list for a second, but adding it will just give you a red/non-existing zone.
wEaViL - Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:15 am
Post subject:
in the IP section you want the IP of the server comp not 127.0.0.1 becuase the router would just loop it back to itself. So setting it as your IP the router gives you is correct. Try this and see if it works.

Go to http://www.noip.com and create a no-ip free service account. You'll make a web addy like myserver.noip.com and download there ip live update program. Then in the server.ini file change the server ip to the webaddy you made on the site. The ip updater will run when windows boots and keep your ip current all the time so when it changes ASSS won't need a new ip added to the ini or conf... whatever it uses. That may even help with your problem. Its not uncommon for a zone to not show up green on the host comp. As long as it shows up for people outside of the network router your all set to go. Just add the custom zone like you've done.

BTW they have windows, mac, and linux versions of the updater in the downloads section.
