Post subject: Problem with bongs in LVZ
I have a problem with the bongs in my lvz. When i upload them in a lvz pack the bongs won't play in the public arena in zone. I think i put in the right filenames: bong31.wa2 .... etc. Also the new victoryl.wa2 won't update! Help!

could be that your sounds have the wrong quality. dunno exactly how it works but i think you'l need 8bit mono sounds or something... any higher then that and they will not play. Note that i am not sure of this. But you could try and decrease quality and check if it works then... Plus im not sure if there was a size limit... its been so long ago icon_confused.gif ...

Eh, would that really be the problem? icon_confused.gif

Did you re-enter the arena after you uploaded them?

you guys are wasting your time

Guy, attach a copy of the .lvz, then someone will make sure it's not badly-made. Then, assuming you have "misc:levelfiles=nameOfYour.lvz" in your .cfg and that you're using the proper server, client and lvz software, we'll know if you've entered the twilight zone (highly unlikely).

Haha, the twilight zone?
SuSE - Thu Oct 14, 2004 5:05 pm
Post subject:
The twilight zone. Typically this is when you've done something weird, but that could nonetheless be fixed by a small fix in BuildLevel.exe .

i did everything what everyone said...but my quality of the sounds is 128K pretty larger than 8 bit as someone said earlier...how do i decrease the quality if thats the case? and i think it did enter a twilight zone! :/
Cyan~Fire - Fri Oct 15, 2004 3:47 pm

Wait 128K? Are you sure you're not using MP3 or something here?

Make sure you have mod powers or have bongs turned on in the settings before you type %32. But since victoryl.wav isn't working either, I think you have the wrong file format.

I have to agree with CF here, 44khz is the highest I've seen a wav file.

yes it was a wav...i converted it to a wa2 file now but the quality is the same. and suse i did what u told me and the files worked on my friend's pc and mine...but not in SS...so someone tell me how to downgrade the quality or if there is another way?
SuSE - Fri Oct 15, 2004 10:45 pm

I know this may be hard, but READ THE FOLLOWING:

ATTACH...THE .LVZ...TO...YOUR NEXT...POST

now, this could be equally hard, so I'll say DO THIS, TOO:

DO...WHAT...I...SAID...JUST...NOW
Cyan~Fire - Sat Oct 16, 2004 4:55 pm
Post subject:
No but 128kb/s is an MP3 (or any compressed audio) bitrate. The bitrate for a wav is a constant much higher than that.

it was a wav file but when i made it wa2 it became 0kbps....i'm like wtf......and the attachment is too big for all the bongs...so i put just 1

Um, you can't make it wav just by changing the file extension. I can't open it in a wav player as it is not a wav file.

smong, i did the same thing as guy did but i can play it in my player. I am also having the same trouble as Guy has lmao
Smong - Wed Oct 20, 2004 4:14 pm
Post subject:
You are most likely using a generic media player, if you use a wav only player such as Recorder it won't play. If it plays in Recorder and the green wave form changes as the sound does, then it should work in ctm.
Purge - Wed Oct 20, 2004 6:07 pm
Post subject:
oh.....then how do i make it work in SS by changing it to wa2
Anonymous - Wed Oct 20, 2004 6:44 pm
Post subject:
You've got a few options:
* Get a software convertor to change the mp3 to a wav file.
* Play the mp3 and at the same time use another program to record the sound (the best way of beating copy protection).
* Play the mp3 and record it using your stereo, then play it back using a mic plugged into your machine.

Quote:
$ file bong118.wav
bong118.wav: MP3 file with ID3 version 2.3.0 tag

alright i'll try that...all of it sa_tongue.gif

Winamp Pro can convert mp3 to wav, though it's a little weird.

Musicmatch does it easily, but that thing is annoying.
CypherJF - Wed Oct 20, 2004 10:00 pm

Winamp has always been able to do that for some time I think; just via a plugin, WaveOut or something..

but i created it as a wav, not an mp3....so how do i make it wa2? just record the sound?
Purge - Fri Oct 22, 2004 10:13 pm
Post subject:
ok i recorded the sound like smong said.... converted it from wav to mp3, then mp3 back to wav... uploaded it to SS, and it downloads when u enter the arena....but doesn't work when u play it! i also did what muskrat said to rename the file to wa2 and change the xtension completely. i did that and it also didn't work. so far none of you guys' ideas worked >.< HELP! You probably still do not have a .wav file.

As for .wa2, ONCE you actually get a real .wav file, just leave it with the extension ".wav" - do not refer to it as .wa2 or rename it .wa2 (this goes for bm2, too).

Why don't you upload the MP3 and someone will convert it to wav for you.
Purge - Sat Oct 23, 2004 6:15 pm

ok, but why do they have to do it when i simply can?

Alright I finally got the bongs to work! I follow the procedure Smog told me witht he Recorder app. But now I need a way to compress the wav's into a smaller extention that will save space...I did lvz it but that's not enough!

My total zone download now is like 15 MB! Help! new_let_it_all_out.gif
CypherJF - Sun Oct 31, 2004 10:40 am
Post subject:
wtf 15 MB; stop using BMP; stop using really long, high qualities WAV files; cut down on the amount of images.
Purge - Sun Oct 31, 2004 2:22 pm
Post subject:
i dont use bmp's and high quality images...i'm thinking of putting a FTP site for tron since mine didn't go to 1% in like 30 min. does SS only accept wav's?
CypherJF - Sun Oct 31, 2004 2:25 pm
Post subject:
You shouldn't have 15 MB regardless; what all do you have in there?

Yes, it only accept's waves.
Purge - Sun Oct 31, 2004 2:28 pm
Post subject:
the bongs take up 12 mb actually, and zone memory is now 12.7 mb >.<

Alright I'll start up a FTP site for Tron....

nothing wrong with using bitmaps - often the size difference between them and png's is negligible

as for making the wavs smaller, try: http://www.download.com/River-Past-Audio-Converter/3000-2140_4-10326386.html?tag=lst-0-1

I think it allows easy change in samplerate, etc

Suse, did you try it out before reccomending it for me? I tried it and it just converts it to a 48khz wav file which goes larger than my 8 bit wav file tongue.gif

The software is just a clone of the one I used to record the sounds into wav (Audio Recorder).

Anyways thanks for the help. icon_cry.gif

Musk, you said to "change the file extension" by putting .wa2 at the very end of the filename. Don't you remember?

You also said that you are somewhat sure that this will work sa_tongue.gif

Yay! I got the bongs to finally work without having all that cluttered into the zone making it 15 MB. The zone now is at least 4 MB and I compressed all the wavs into AM Radio Quality 8-bit sound pieces, then merged them together which caused them to lose some "weight".

Thanks to Smong 'cause he's the one that reccommended me the program "Audio Recorder" and it actually worked for once! I accidentally "missed" to see the compresser in the app earlier, but all is well now. icon_cool.gif
