Bot Questions - MervBot Build 42. [INVALID] login error.

Post subject: MervBot Build 42. [INVALID] login error.
So I've searched these forums far and wide to see if my problem was already assisted. It was, BUT the solutions held no ground for me. I put my bot in my sysop.txt, vip.txt, followed all directions to the spawn.txt, readme.txt, logged in with the bots name manually to make sure it wasn't valid, change my server.ini to accept non-continuum users, unless my spawn format is incorrect...

Test.Bot : BotPassword : 0 : alias, flag, rampage : sysoppw

Any takers?

Looks right, why don't you paste the bot's error so someone actually knows what kind of error your talking about..

It's not so much the bot that's having the error, it's the billing server(CatID)

Here's what the bserv says...

Quote:
Subspace Billing Server (Build 11)
Reading SUBBILL.INI... Done.
Reading Zone.dat: 0 zone entries found
Reading Banfree.dat: 0 banfree entries found
Reading Squad.dat: 0 squad entries found
Reading Ban.dat: 1 ban entries found
Reading User.dat: 4 user entries found
Reading User2.dat: 0 user2 entries found
Reading Op.dat: 1 operator entries found
Reading Score.dat: 2 score entries found

And the subgame2 says...

what a lovely name...

Yes, lovely, because that's what zone names are regulated to, being lovely.

I meant the log from the bot.

No! No! No!

Merv.INI
// No terminal output. This will speed up the bot noticeably
NoTerminal=0

Set that to '1'. Then, copy and paste (using the MSDOS tools) the text ie: log; and paste it here.

That's gay. Errors should be logged whether a generic log file is enabled or not.
Anonymous - Sat Jun 26, 2004 5:08 pm
Post subject:
Its probably not technically an error; allowing the to console =1; it'll tell what the bot is thinking; so on and so forth...
A.j. - Sat Jun 26, 2004 5:32 pm
Post subject:
Well, if you think it'll help, I finally copied it before the bot crashed.

If the bot is crashing, then it's not a login problem. It is a coding problem with the core or one of the modules. Debug it, or get someone who knows what they are doing to debug it.

then why is it saying

isolate the problem...

try bot entering without any plugins
try changing names for the bot
try having bot login to another server
see if anything is in server log

does bot enter zone then leave?
does bot crash?
does bot not even enter zone?
can other bots enter zone? if so, use their files to launch your bot and see where the problem is.

If the bot is crashing, you are going to have to solve that problem regardless. So figure that out, and fix it.

The bot logs into other servers fine, it's just mine. I think my my format for spawns.txt is wrong or something, or i'm using the wrong passwords, i'm doing something stupid.

You meant set it to ZERO (0), because when I did that, it showed me what was happening. Here's what it said, It won't let me copy and paste so I'll type it out.

Yada Yada release mode <Build 42>

That should shed some light upon the situation.

err right biggrin.gif 0 1 same difference tongue.gif...

Okay issues:
1.) Mismatch of EXE - this is not normal; however, merv b42 doesn't use the subspace.bin anymore; so I'm not too sure what's up w/ this.
2.) You do not have permission to playin this arena, doub check and make sure the bot has smod+ (and password is correct), and/or exists on the VIP log.

I'm not sure if the permission denial is linked the EXE mismatch :/

Sorry, I'm on dialup and don't have the patience to wait for the 'edit' to load; but also make sure the obscene.txt doesn't include the blockage of SHIT or whatnot. But I'm sure that'd be a different error. (i think u said you were able to login w/ a normal client)

If all else fails, try creating the bot from scratch (grab the distribution file from catid's site again), and login w/o any plugins loaded.

I'm on dialup too man, I feel your pain.

I logged the bot into other servers, through the bot client(as in not the continuum client but the bot client), and it works. It's just not working for my server. I've allowed access for VIE clients and non-continuum clients. Nothing in the obscene.txt... So it has to be something in my server.ini file that's skrewing it up.

Maybe email catid the URL to this topic.. I can't think of anything off the top of my head :/

change

Test.Bot : BotPassword : 0 : alias, flag, rampage : sysoppw

to

Test.Bot : BotPassword : 0 : : sysoppw

(remove the plugins).

try to go in as your bot in continuum and then do *sysoppw and try to do *listmod and see if it actually has access.

the exe mismatch is probably because it's sending a VIE exe checksum instead of a continuum one, as it should, although i've never gotten that warning.

Ekted: I don't think the bot is crashing... just not connecting to the server.

Do you have something like ContinuumOnly=1 in your server.ini?

Catid helped me get it working. Thank you so much Catid, you rock man.

For everyone who was wondering what was wrong, it was that I didn't have a copy of subspace.exe in my root folder. Who would've thought.
Thanks guys for trying though.
Mr Ekted - Sun Jun 27, 2004 3:33 pm

Um, I thought the new MERV didn't use the EXE for checksum. Are you using an older one?
