The second step of the instructions is to edit the Spawns.txt file. My problem is that I just don't understand where I am supposed to input the information it tells me to. I don't see anywhere where it looks like I should put in spawn.dll or spawn.ini. Please help!

in mervbot.ini, check

Code: Show/Hide
[Login]
Zone=127.0.0.1:2000

where "127.0.0.1" is the IP address and "2000" is the port number. Change these to the IP address and port number for your zone.

save your changes.

in operators.txt, delete

Code: Show/Hide
1 :Catid           :
2 :Snrrrub         :
3 :Coconut Emulator:
4 :Snarklord       :
5 :Ave-iator       :
6 :nintendo64      :
7 :SOS             :
8 :Budger          :
9 :NOBODY!!!!!!!   :
10:X_IceHawk       :
11:L.C.            :
12:1stStrike       :

and add in its place at least

Code: Show/Hide
5:yourname:

or

Code: Show/Hide
5:yourname:passwordofyourchoice

if you want to be required to type "!login password" instead of just "!login"

save your changes.

in spawns.txt, replace

Code: Show/Hide
Catid.Bot  :  +++++  :  0  :  alias, flag, rampage  :  mod

with

Code: Show/Hide
botnameofyourchoice:passwordforbotname:0:spawn.dll:modpassword

save your changes.

the name of the bot must exist, so if you haven't already, enter the zone using the bot name at least once.

that should do it

you can of course replace the mod pass with the sysop pass or smod pass. Smod is usually required for any really useful bot.

spawn.dll just uses mod though, so you can use anything

It's all set, but MervBot (AC-Bot-1) won't login. I've created a profile for it. This is what it looks like:

Profilename:AC-Bot-1
Username:AC-Bot-1
Password:swift

Now, in the spawns.txt:

AC-Bot-1:swift:0:spawn.dll, rampage.dll:smod

(AC stands for Astral Chaos, the name of the zone)

It just keeps trying to connect to it over and over. Troublshooting for Mervbot said to use the SSProxy 6, because I'm behind a Linksys router. So I set that up with my router IP# for the IP it asked for, but nothing works.

Also, in my server.ini file:

[Password]
SysopPassword=sysop
EnergyPassword=energy
ModeratorPassword=mod
SuperModeratorPassword=smod
VIPPassword=vip

This is what I get when it tries to login:

Added Owner-level operator: Drow. (loki)

MERVBot Release-candidate (Build 37) (DLL 6.5) by cat02e@fsu.edu
Press any key to close this window when done.

AC-Bot-1 Retrying connection...

Where XXX is my router IP#.
It just keeps connecting over and over.
I do have one question, though. The IP that I set for Merv should be my router IP or my pc IP, since I'm running through a Linksys? Maybe this isn't the problem, but it doesn't work. Please help!

Uhhh, nevermind, I'm just a jack^^^ and keep forgetting to tell Zone Alarm to let the programs ALWAYS use the internet.

Btw, what are warp tiles in the spawn.ini file?

Pretty much the whole spawn.ini, I don't understand the examples, and the instructions are misleading.
