So I see that continuum is starting to die, huh?

I was thinking about opening my server back up again and host but I don't see a lot of activity around anymore.

Hyperspace is doing fine. More than anything I think Cheese is right: the long-standing zones have compromised so much in an effort to entice players that they've driven away more regulars. New zones!

SubSpace is always declining. At one point, there was a period of growth, but that really was thanks to an updating client.

Check out the pretty numbers and graphs on the Server Help Statistics page. You can see the color dimming away every year.

No offense, but these forums hardly represent SS as a whole--if they did, then I'd be worried.

You're correct it's inevitable that staleness leads and has led to decline, and when the ball is rolled again with say a new shiny awesome client it will grow again. But Subspace as a whole never was a constant thing, it is always comprised of its zones and there have been only a few constants in terms of zones. It may never be the same again, and that's how it's always been. So it's pretty ridiculous to call it "starting to die."

Subspace isn't going to die. It's going to continue living in the same old fashioned way IRC is.

I think this statement, at least in the short-long-term (up to your interpretation), would be more precise if someone took the time to convert the old database of statistics over to the new format. Otherwise we'll just have another decade.
