Post subject: just a wierd question about continuum and bots

When a bot enters a continuum only zone, how come it doesn't get kicked? I mean bots don't use the continuum client to enter :\ and how does it register then? or am i wrong and it does use continuum client?

It uses the VIE protocol; and registers itself that way. The server must be configured to allow the old SubSpace clients to connect and/or be staff (or at a minimum be VIP) to bypass this check.

wierd but i think in my zone i had continuum only, and still had bots :\

If you give them VIP, they can operate normally.
And if you give them sysop, I believe they don't get kicked, atleast. Though they might be locked in spec or something.

if you give them any sort of access, VIP, mod, smod, sysop, they are allowed to enter using the old VIE subspace protocol.

oh so if your a mod in a zone can you enter using older clients like 38 ?

Are you sure? From what I know only if you give someone VIP or Sysop access?
Only giving someone mod access won't make him able to enter with a bot.

I think it's SMod and up actually, I could use SubChat with smod and not mod

oh, vip works too
