Post subject: 3D Rotating Shark
i recently updated
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SubSpace_%28computer_game%29

with the full extended ship names
and the 3d rotating graphics.

which i believe were originally made by VIE.

...i cant find a shark 3d anywhere.
its possible that since shark was released late, that it doesnt exist...

i need anyone with gif editing skills
#1:
to create the end to the set, possibly by modifying the one at http://www.subspacedownloads.com/index.php?act=file&fid=1147
#2:
to change the speed of the lanc so it matches the rotation speed of the rest of the set (its a lil fast)

editing gifs is not a matter of skills... just a matter of having the right program tongue.gif

I use Animation Shop 3 that comes with Paint Shop Pro 7. You can set the animation delay between each frame.... dont have time to do it now though

And as far as I know, I don't think anyone ever seen what the shark looks like from the side or bottom

@mgb: Just curious... How many people come here from wikipedia per month?

I think getcontinuum.com has wikipedia as its 2nd highest referer.

I don't go around doing this, but there are people (or bots) that do. I think your changes will be removed shortly on the basis that it doesn't add anything of significance to the article. The images have already been marked for deletion by a bot, quote: "image will be deleted after Tuesday, 25 March 2008".

thats only because "This image or media does not have information on its copyright status"

im looking into it...
i assure you, the images will be permanent.

There never was a 3D Shark. Shark was a last minute addition by VIE originally intended only for sysops. Also, the reason why the lancaster is faster is because it has 59 frames, while the others have 60 frames.

But as Smong said, the ship models aren't copyright free, so they'll be taken off wiki. They're also kind of distracting, no offense.

Which most likely won't happen... and... filling that space with an animated gif is annoying, just put nothing tongue.gif
And as other people said, it's already annoying watching that page with all the moving ships. Why not link to the pics instead? Or put/link pictures of the ships that are not animated

Anyway, I don't really care about the wiki tongue.gif

because links to pics are useless...?

and removing one screws with the alignment, so you use filler. (common practice)

"Filler" is different from "the wrong picture". And news flash, the pics are useless anyway. Especially since those never show up in the game. If you want to be helpful, just make sure there are actual in-game pictures. I can't tell you how many times I've looked at PC games in stores, looked all over the case for in-game pics, found none, and put it back without ever giving the game a second glance. Like just yesterday, there was some space-oriented RTS. I couldn't tell if it was a ripoff of Starcraft or of Homeworld, so I looked for actual pictures of the actual game, but all they had were pre-rendered character models pasted all over the box. I was interested in trying it out if it was like Homeworld, but I don't even remember the name now.
