Testtube changed his web hosting server, took the old nameservers down ,and ssforum didn't move to the new ones, or something like that.

Testtube pmed me the other night, saying he was upgrading the server, quadcore, 4gb of ram, etc. Turns out just moved servers, but all is fine and stable (http://servrqqlk0rl.sn.sourcedns.com/~ssforum/).

He then a few hrs later when I hopped on again, had left me a pm saying to update my name servers, and posted on forum (http://servrqqlk0rl.sn.sourcedns.com/~ssforum/?showtopic=19615) to do so for anyone who had a domain hosted by him... ok, will do. I figured I'd e-mail swift in the morning, as I doubted TT would change em over night.

Got on in the morning round noon pst found both sites down. Turns out old DNS domain expired, and TT is telling me he told me 3 days ago, but eh, whatever. E-mailed Swift and T-man, and T-man has updated SSCentrals, so just waiting for them to propegate(sp?). Swift on the other hand I guess has Imed TT when he was afk, and Imed me while I was afk. Only on for a few short mins as he is in Korea. I have just now e-mailed his army e-mail as I know he checks that, so just a waiting game now. Still hasn't updated them according to WHOIS.

On another note, Rootbear is having major withdrawls, so expect to see him here soon.

Joe just e-mailed me back, seems he didn't know stargate turned into resell.biz, so he couldn't figure out wth he couldn't find it to update the info. Really gotta get him to move it to namealerts w/ our other domains.

Ah, so when their forums go down, talk about it here. When mine dies, no one mentions it anywhere.

I think there was a thread about mgb.com going down on ssforum, but as ssforum is down...i cant find it... I was going to make a thread about it, but it came back online before i could.

You can always add the ssforum ip to your "host" file, if you are desperate to get on ssforum. Its not like the server has died. Its just the telephone directory has the wrong number.

Also, since you both operate the forum and have physical access to the server, it's more like "Oh, the server is down, but MineGoBoom probably already knows and has probably already gotten a part shipped overnight to fix it."

I'm seriously thinkin bout savin the money I'd spend on hosting, and just upgrading my internet and hosting shit out off my own box.

Talked to TT on the phone earlier, and he said all was testing fine before we lost dns after the move, so, once things clear up we'll be back online.

Edit: Was from Feb 6th outage, noone mentioned the most recent... maybe cause yours comes back up faster you lucky whore. http://host.liquidrain.com/~ssforum/?showtopic=19138

Aw no worries I did add a blog entry about your server being offline and mentioned in the ssforum accede subforum ... except they're both on sscentral.com soooo... icon_rolleyes.gif

Maybe it's because of the lousy proxy server here at my work but the following addition to my hosts file doesn't seem to work. Then again, I haven't been able to reach SSForum at my work for almost a year now.

Code: Show/Hide
67.225.196.106   ssforum.net
67.225.196.106   www.ssforum.net

This is like the slowest nameserver change ever. I changed mine on namecheap and it happened in about 8 hours....

The thing is, Swift hasn't even updated them. I e-mailed him all the info he needed... and have not gotten any reply. He keeps saying "Hello" to me and TT when we're afk, and nothing more.

He's off in Korea, or else I'd drive over to his place and slap him, so no fix there. Also can't call him cause of this, tried texting w/ no result.

Just have to wait and see. Probably will move forums to SSCentral.com for time being if this continues on.

I sat down and figured out what Swift's issue was, and hopefully will work for him now. The limited internet time he has, I guess he didn't have time to figure it out.

Stargate now uses resell.biz for their domains. The interesting thing, goto Resell.biz, try to login, nothing. Try recover pass, his e-mail didn't exist. Goto Stargate... same thing.

Finally read through some stuff, and tried domains.stargate.com, and it was Resell.biz, but under stargate domain. So tried the recovery, and it finally said was sending him his password for recovery.

Should get things rolling now. Need to get him to change ssforum's registrar this upcoming summer so no more of these issues. Damn rowen and his using stargate for his domains when he registered ours.

I highly recommend Namecheap. Look for a coupon, too.

I've been using Namealerts since my very 1st domain name, never had any issues w/ them. Swift also uses them for his domains now also, just has never moved SSForum.net.

Ah, the beauty of owning your own domain, server, and rack space. If anything goes wrong, you have complete and total hands-on control. I'm still glad I never merged Server Help with any other site, even though I've been offered a couple of times.

I have access to the domain... except that everytime joe changes password after recovery, it lasts for like a month or so, and then makes him do a password recovery again. Again, why he needs to move the domain. 2x now its happened when something server wise went wrong.
